Tammy NYP Video, The Next Paris Hilton?

Tammy of NYP is a 17-year-old sweet looking schoolgirl of Nanyang Polytechnic from Singapore, who engaged in intercourse video with her boyfriend that is making the rounds around the internet. According to one blog entry, the cheerleader’s mobile phone was apparently stolen by a girl who was jealous of her popularity, then the video uploaded and mass e-mailed it to lecturers and students of the school. The Tammy NYP video show the couple are seen having sex on school grounds in various positions in the 10-minute long video clip.
When asked to the NYP school what kind of punishment would be meted out if Tammy or the student distributing the video was found to be one of its students, the spokesman said that the school will first investigate to find out more about the matter before coming to any decision.
The latest info from blog said that Tammy has quit from that NYP school. All this negative “publicity” of her is really uncalled for. The article about her was spread on the papers, and I was thinking to myself, shouldn’t we be sympathizing with her? Instead of discriminating and bad mouthing her. I’m thinking , isn’t what she did simply part of her private life? What right do we have to criticize and judge her actions? What good does it do by passing her video around, besides fufilling your own stupid pleasure? “I don’t understand why the victim should be punished. Isn’t she humiliated enough that it is in the open?
This video schoolgirl reminds us to another tragedy of Western Ontario Saugeen Stripper Scandal (or Jane Creba Tragedy?), and I thought that after the Paris Hilton’s hoohah in the internet years ago, such act of stupidity should not be happening anymore. And now Singapore has it’s very own Paris Hilton, how strange it is for the same thing to be happening (and picking up lots of attention) in a small island like Singapore. Similar in both cases, this act of distributing private video, is intended to destroy a person’s life.
Another thought out there is, if Tammy is a victim, she made herself one by allowing herself to be recorded . There’s a rumour circulating that this whole thing is a plot hatched by her boyfriend who has already filmed Tammy and himself in a 90-minute porno flick, and that the young lovers are using the cell phone story and the blogosphere as a promotional tool to generate publicity that millions of dollars could otherwise not buy!
How would you feel if such a private video or even a picture of your partner and yourself is broadcasted and circulated all over the Internet? And think of humiliation and shame for Tammy and her family is going through now is enough punishment for her. I hope we got lesson from this tragedy and save our own privacy life.
