Karima Adebibe, a 20-year-old Top Shop sales assistant from London, has been chosen as the new face of Lara Croft, the action hero and possibly the most recognised name in video games.
She will be trained up and learning the skills required to do justice to tomb raider Lara to appear as the video game action hero across the globe.
She previously played the role of the “Sacrificial Maiden” in the 2004 film, AVP: Alien Vs. Predator, a combined sequel to the Alien and Predator movies.
After winning the race for the role, she said, “I’ve had the most amazing yet strangest day possible, I woke up this morning and I was in five or six newspapers and it’s just so shocking!”
The announcement was made in London on Valentine’s Day - Lara Croft’s birthday and the the 10th anniversary of Tomb Raider.
When Karima Adebibe asked about what does Lara Croft mean for her, she said, “Lara Croft is the epitome of British class, beauty and strength. She’s an independent and ambitious female version of Indiana Jones. Her fearlessness and adventurous nature takes her on all kinds of journeys across the globe. She is proficient in many languages and is highly educated. Lara has been created to fulfill the ultimate fantasy character for both men and women. Lara’s got it all.”
