Women Self Esteem Priory Clinic latest research on millions of British women said that almost 50% of them suffer from low self-esteem. This survey covers 1,093 women aged 15 and over, showed a large proportion of women demonstrate key indicators for low self-esteem.
The research report shows a lack of self-confidence is damaging the relationships, mental health, job prospects and quality of life of millions of women.

From 57% respondent said they were ‘people pleasers’, 39% of them said they often do not say what they think because they are worried what others might think of them, and the rest said they were their own worst critics.
Over a third of women said how they feel about themselves depends on how other people treat them and a similar number admitted they have sacrificed their own wishes for what their partners want in order to keep them happy.

Dr Claudia Bernat, the writer of I’m Not Good Enough report, and consultant psychiatrist at the north London hospital, said, “Low self-esteem renders people susceptible to developing mental health issues like depression, eating disorders and substance misuse. Research shows millions of British women suffer from low self-esteem which could manifest itself in various ways, including depressive episodes, social phobia and body image distortions which in turn can lead to further deterioration of self-esteem.”
According to her opinion, one of the self esteem key factors is a desire for perfection which can, she said, be a double-edged sword. While it can spur people on to achieve their goals it can also create unrealistic expectations.
