Heather Mills was fighting to salvage her reputation yesterday after an onslaught of revelations, including sensational claims that she worked as a high-class prostitute. The tabloid tale of “Lord Macca” and “Lady Mucca” reached its lurid climax on Sunday, when News of the World published claims that Paul McCartney’s estranged wife, Heather Mills McCartney, had been a high-priced prostitute specialising in lesbian and group sex.
She was in frantic talks with her lawyers after two former vice-girls said she was paid thousands of pounds a night for having sex with wealthy Arab businessmen.
Two of the women are identified in the article as former prostitutes: Petrina Montrose says Mills participated in a threesome with her and a Saudi prince who paid Mills $10,000 for one night; Denise Hewitt says Mills engaged in a lesbian tryst with her. Another interviewee, Abdul Khoury, said to be a secretary for a billionaire arms dealer named Adnan Khashoggi, told the paper Mills was paid $12,000 by his boss.
“One of my duties was to look after Mr. Khashoggi’s guests, which would include looking after vice girls who were invited to see him,” Khoury is quoted. “One was Heather Mills, who had sex with him on a number of occasions in return for money.”
And Abdul Khoury, the former private secretary for Khashoggi (who was involved in the Iran-Contra affair in the ???80s), told British tabloid News of the World that ???(Heather) has repeatedly lied. She was a hooker. I know. I paid her.???
Reps for Mills McCartney denied the allegations Sunday in a statement to the BBC.
???These are not new stories and were refuted by her lawyers four years ago when first raised. The sources clearly are a variety of unreliable persons who have been paid for these stories.
???The timing of the article is clearly designed to cause maximum hurt to Heather, her husband and family at this sensitive time.???
The allegations, which she denies, follow last month’s report in The Sun that the former Sun page-three girl had taken part in a 1988 German porn video, Die Freuden der Liebe (The Joys of Love), in which she performed various acts, sucked strawberries from her co-star’s mouth and “licked whipped cream off his manhood”.
Mr Clifford said: “It’s certainly very damaging. Unless she can prove it’s all untrue, then obviously it would desperately change the way people perceive her.
“I think these kinds of rumours have been circulating for some time now and I think obviously there is a world of difference between the Heather Mills that has been promoted in recent years, with the landmines, and the Heather Mills we are reading about now.
“It’s very damaging and obviously she and her people have to try to turn things around very quickly.”
A former executive at Rupert Murdoch’s News International, which includes The Sun and News of the World, told The Guardian the papers had been reluctant to attack Ms Mills McCartney when she was with the former Beatle.
McCartney was one of the few people editors were reluctant to have a real go at: “If you attacked Heather, you attacked Paul and the public might not like that.”
If McCartney attacked News International it could hurt sales, but without his protection gloves were off, the executive said.
