The 23-year-old actress, Anne Hathaway, who got her big break as a klutzy teen in “The Princess Diaries,” opposite legend Julie Andrews , has graduated to more serious roles. She was a feisty cowgirl ??? and even appeared topless ??? in last year???s “Brokeback Mountain,” and stars alongside another acting luminary, Meryl Streep , in “The Devil Wears Prada,” slated for release June 30.
In “The Devil Wears Prada” based on Lauren Weisberger’s best-selling perfect beach read book, Hathaway plays the beleaguered assistant to the icy, demanding editor (Streep) of a Vogue-like fashion magazine.
Swept up in her career, her character goes from geek-to-chic ??? trading drab sweaters for designer duds ??? but struggles with the price of success.

The Devil Wears Prada, the satirical view of life at a glossy Manhattan fashion magazine, is going to present a real wardrobe dilemma for its stars. Not just because they’re incongruously off to the cinema in fancy dresses and high heels, when a popcorn and air-con-friendly tracksuit would be far more practical, but because promoting a film with a designer label in the title demands more than a little sartorial dexterity.
What is certain is that Prada has sent various samples to Hathaway and would love to “wardrobe” her, as it is known in the trade. In fact, the Italian label knows that the devil is actually in the detail and has accepted the compliment rather well, not only by helpfully providing the film with numerous wardrobe samples for the cast, including a handbag carried by Streep, but by using the film as a widescreen product placement opportunity to showcase its eau de parfum, which is seen sitting on Miranda Priestly’s desk.

At the premiere of their movie, “The Devil Wears Prada”, stars Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway both wore Valentino, naturally. We thought that fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker would save the day when she showed up unannounced, but she dissed Prada in favor of Dolce & Gabbana. Seriously, no one wants to be thought of as a devil.
The film is set in the world of high-fashion publishing in New York City, and the already shapely star was determined to lose pounds for her role–but only in the most stylish, pain-free way.
Hathaway says the movie is a “statement piece” about being a young woman in the work force and what it’s like to “learn to make decisions as an adult.”

Meanwhile, Hathaway upset with Tucci’s breast obsession, Actor Stanley Tucci couldn’t keep his hands off co-star Hathaway on the set of new fashion comedy “The Devil Wears Prada” because he was fascinated with her breasts.
She explains, “There was this one day where he kept elbowing me in the breast. He wasn’t doing it to be like a dirty old man, but if we were doing a scene or I was just crossing to get to my mark (on the set) he would just smack me in my boob and elbow me.”
The actress reveals she had to eventually rebuke her co-star when he kept elbowing her in the chest, because she felt it was inappropriate, and it hurt.
“If you’re a girl you know that hurts. So, after about the fourth time, I finally turned to him and said, ‘Stanley can you please stay away from my t**s?’ ”
Stanley got really flustered and he said, ‘What do you expect, you’re flinging those melons around like it’s harvest season!’”

Anne Hathaway was determined to slim down for her role in The Devil Wears Prada movie, and decided to use the Gallic technique for staying svelte by consulting hit book French Women Don’t Get Fat.
During the film she is derided for being a size six and drops down to an even tinier size four.
She explains, “I read French Women Don’t Get Fat and followed all the advice. “It’s a great book. The thing I love about it is it’s not a diet book–I just watch certain things.”
