ITE Teacher Video, School Camera Phones Asked

An incident hit the Internet last month shows an educational institution teacher, at ITE (Institute of Technical Education) in in Bukit Batok, masturbating in a classroom while watching television alone in a locked classroom and being recorded by the camera phones. It is not clear what programme was on the TV screen at that time. The trainer, was on a month’s contract in ITE, not clear if the students shot the clip since there are numerous voices are heard on the clip. The ITE teacher video quickly spread through the Internet and on phones.

Mr Yek Tiew Ming, principal of ITE College West said in an e-mail statement: “This was an unfortunate and isolated incident which happened more than a month ago.
‘The person involved was an independent external trainer who did one month of contract training in Communication Skills at Bukit Batok campus. This contract trainer is not an ITE staff member.”
He added that ITE is “not able to ascertain who filmed or posted the video clip,” while the contract for the trainer’s services was terminated immediately and now being investigated by the police.

This “school camera phones” incident herein lies the dilemma for educators, some principals believe that allowing camera phones in schools helps expose undesirable behaviour.
Mr Adrian Cordeiro, principal of Teck Whye Secondary, does not condone the trainer’s behaviour at all. But he does question the use of phones in schools.
“There is no doubt that in this case the phone provides evidence of a despicable act,’ he accepted. ‘But couldn’t it have been reported without the recording?”
Agreeing with him to some extent is retired principal Anthony Loh, former head of Bukit Merah Secondary. He said, “‘It is sad to hear that this incident has happened here,’ he said. ‘But recording it and circulating it is not the right thing to do either. The purveyors of the video clip are causing more damage to the ITE and the lecturer. They are not helping the institution or the individual in any way.”
Parents should also advise their children on the uses and abuses of technology, and monitor what the children do, those principals added.

The “school camera phones” incidents had hit the internet many times, maybe some you still remember with a 4 1/2-minute-long clip, taken on a handphone last month showed three girls assaulting another teenagers girl. The victim was kicked, slapped and punched by her assailants, forced to take off her top and almost had her shorts removed.
And last week the The New Paper forwarded yet another video clip to the Ministry of Education. It shows two schoolgirls fighting in a public carpark, while watched by their peers.
And I’m sure you won’t forget the Tammy NYP video intercourse with her boyfriend, not at school :)
