Katie Couric has a new diet secret? Apparently not, if you read Watch! magazine, a CBS production that features Katie Couric in a recent editon of their mag with photo that was digitally altered to make her look about 20 lbs. thinner, looking so incredibly thin that it seems unreal. The New York Post notes that thanks to Photoshop, the popular editing software, the same photo, printed in a CBS magazine, shows her looking much, much thinner - and her suit has become a few shades darker.

Warsaw’s symbol, a half naked mermaid, will have her chest covered on a poster promoting the Miss World 2006 contest competition, after the original version was judged too erotic. The artist Rafal Olbinski redrew the poster and placed a white scarf with the “Miss World” inscription across the offending body part, said his agent, Piotr Reichel. He “agreed to make the change at the request from the Warsaw promotion office,” the artist’s agent, Piotr Reichel, said.

This year’s Miss World pageant will be held in Polish Capital, Warsaw on September 30. The city’s symbol is a naked-breasted mermaid. The mermaid, central to Warsaw’s founding legend, is depicted in two statues in the capital and appears on the city’s crest as naked from the waist up. Maria Esther de Capovilla, the oldest person in the world according to Guinness World Records, has died at 116 years of age on Sunday at 3 a.m. in a hospital two days after coming down with pneumonia, said her granddaughter Catherine Capovilla.
Maria Esther de Capovilla came from a well-to-do Ecuadorean family that traced its lineage to Spanish nobility. “The family has a heraldic shield from the Spanish ancestry,” said Robert Young, senior consultant for Gerontology for Guinness World Records. Capovilla was confirmed as the oldest living person on December 9, 2005, after her family sent details of her birth and marriage certificates to the British-based publisher. Emiliano Mercado Del Toro, of Puerto Rico, retains the title as oldest man. He turned 115 last Monday.

Born on September 14, 1889 the same year as Charlie Chaplin and Adolf Hitler, Capovilla was married in 1917 and widowed in 1949.
