Jessica Simpson reportedly made on last ditch effort to keep Nick Lachey before their divorce became final. But Nick had already started dating sultry MTV host Vanessa Minnillo and he has been with his new gal for about two months. Nick Lachey has been reportedly telling friends how much he likes Vanessa Minnillo because she’s different from his ex-wife Jessica Simpson.
A friend of Vanessa has told Us Weekly that “Nick keeps telling Vanessa the difference between her and Jessica is that she is extremely intelligent.â€
And oh yes, let’s not forget what the gossipsphere tells us… that Minnillo also happily supplies loverboy Lachey with lusty lap dances, as is rumored to have happened “several” times on July 28 at the Butter Lounge in NYC.
“Jessica was always about going somewhere that was a scene with a big entourage. Vanessa can play darts and chill.†Minnillo also scores points for being a fellow sports nut. Whereas Simpson rolled her eyes at Lachey’s passion, Minnillo revels in it.
In fact, when she and Lachey were still in the platonic friendship stage, “Nick commented on his love for the [hometown NFL team], Cincinnati Bengals and Vanessa blew him away by running off the team’s poor stats,†says a Lachey source. “He tells friends, ‘It’s like talking to your best guy friend, but she’s a smoking-hot chick.’â€
Jessica seems to have struggled getting back in the dating game all together. When the blonde singer and actress was in New York for some heavy promotion of her new single “A Public Affair” she rarely went out. According to ITW, she even passed on a night out in Manhattan for take out BBQ from Blue Smoke in her room at the Soho Grand.
“Jessica has been on a few dates,” a pal tells the magazine. “But she still compares other men to Nick. She knows she has to stop doing that but she was in love with him for so long.”
