Abby Lee, 32, is the pseudonym of a London woman raunchy writer recently unmasked as an assistant in the film industry who writes a blog about her racy sex life blog started in 2004. She has revealed she works too hard to have time for sex for her Girlwithaonetrackmind.blogspot.com and won the Best British Weblog award at this year’s Bloggies. Her online confessional has been turned into a book. Girl With A One-Track Mind is out now, published by Ebury.
She penned the internet diary blog under the pseudonym Abby Lee but last weekend the true identity of author ‘Abby Lee’ was revealed unmasked as Zoe Margolis, a 33-year-old film assistant, who helped make the latest Harry Potter movie.
In her first interview, Zoe Margolis talks about porn, feminism and breaking the news of her secret writing career to her parents. When asked if she has slept with everyone she works with, Miss Margolis replied: “No! I didn’t shag a load of people! Very, very few. When you’re at work 16 hours a day, you don’t have time for sex.” Miss Margolis went on to reveal her unmasking has backfired and ruined any prospect of a serious love life.
Despite claims in her blog that she, woman who enjoys sex with strangers, including a man she meets at a bus stop, rarely goes a couple of days without seeking sexual gratification, she says her long working hours prevent her from indulging in such saucy encounters.
Now that her cover is blown, but men are intimidated by her, and worse, she can’t find a boyfriend since her blog was turned into a book. “I’m single. Single and shagless, and this isn’t going to do much for my chances. ‘Oh, so you’re the slapper…’
“A lot of guys are intimidated by it, if they know that you’ve had a lot of lovers, it doesn’t sit well with them.”
She began her blog using the name Abby Lee in January 2004, and has been updating readers on her sexual antics ever since which is witty, moreish and incredibly explicit. The wanking bits are the funniest, actually, especially a memorably neat definition of a “bully wank”. She has the odd same-sex experience, she remembers past shags and ruminates on techniques she would like to refine a bit. She gets laid, with exes, with people she’s met on the internet, with friends of friends, with people who are doing some research on, er, getting laid.
Her blog has had more than 2 million visitors, gets 100,000 readers a month, won Best British or Irish Blog at the 2006 Bloggies, and was published as a book and already in the bestseller lists.
Writing in the diary, she asks such questions as: ‘Does thinking about sex all the time mean there’s something wrong with me? I thought that when we reached our thirties, my friends’ sex drives would match my own adventurous streak. ‘I wish I could talk openly with them, but how can I tell them I want to try group sex when all they care about is finding one special man to have sex with?
‘I’m 32, single and horny, and I want to have some fun.’
Abby’ does give a few references to her true identity, admitting she works in the film industry, and saying that she has size eight feet. Which apparently makes it hard to find sexy boots, as if she were deliberately trying to out herself, whereas, in fact, I can personally vouch for the fact that big feet are not all that rare.
As well as working as a production assistant on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Miss Margolis, the daughter of a psychotherapist who went to a North London comprehensive, has worked on Batman Begins and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.
