Katie Couric has a new diet secret? Apparently not, if you read Watch! magazine, a CBS production that features Katie Couric in a recent editon of their mag with photo that was digitally altered to make her look about 20 lbs. thinner, looking so incredibly thin that it seems unreal. The New York Post notes that thanks to Photoshop, the popular editing software, the same photo, printed in a CBS magazine, shows her looking much, much thinner – and her suit has become a few shades darker.

As you can see at these Katie Couric photos, left photo is the official first-pic-of-Katie released by CBS at this year’s upfront. The right photo is an edited version of the same photo, from the September issue of Watch magazine, which is owned by CBS. (Here’s the PDF of the magazine.)
A CBS spokesman said “the editorial staff of Watch magazine retouched the photo without the knowledge of Katie Couric or CBS news management.” But the staff consists of “CBS’ own communications department,” John Higgins notes.
Couric also said she was unaware that the photo ??? taken at CBS’s May upfront presentation to advertisers ??? would be touched up until the September issue of Watch! crossed her desk. (The publication goes to CBS stations and to passengers aboard American Airlines.)

Communications Group Executive VP Gil Schwartz told the Associated Press Wednesday that the photo was altered by someone in the CBS photo department who “got a little zealous. I talked to my photo department, we had a discussion about it. I think photo understands this is not something we’d do in the future.”
Through a spokesman, Couric says that she prefers the original photo, “I liked the first picture better because there’s more of me to love”
