Making Your Eyes Look Younger In Two Weeks

Eye Cream ImageWithin a fortnight, any eye cream worth its salt should be starting to show results. And changes to your lifestyle can make a major difference to the health of your eyes.

Eye creams. Well-moisturised skin looks healthier and younger, and the same goes for the skin around the eyes. The eye area is particularly delicate because the skin is so fine, making it more prone to damage from the sun, dehydration and general wrinkling from using our eyes to express our feelings. But is it worth spending money on an eye cream? And are eye creams any different to regular daily facial moisturizers? The answer is ???yes??? and ???no???.

The main difference between eye creams and regular moisturizers is that eye creams contain smaller quantities of their active ingredients. But there is a good reason why: eyes are very easily irritated and the more potent the ingredients, the more likely you are to have problems. That???s why you shouldn???t apply eye cream directly to the eye area ??? the fine lines around the eye act as channels, directing the cream towards the eye itself. Instead, pat it gently above the cheek-bones just below the eye area, and your skin will feed the cream where it needs to go.

Lifestyle. Minor lifestyle changes can vastly improve the clarity and general health of your eyes (not to mention the rest of your body). While there are some things we can???t change, such as air pollution, pollens and dust, there are many we can alter to avoid dull, lackluster eyes. Smoking and drinking are often the worst culprits, but bad dietary habits, dehydration and irregular sleeping patterns are also no-nos.
Drinking More Water Image
Start by drinking more water, you should drink an average of six to eight glasses a day and, while this seems a lot, your body ??? being largely made up of water ??? will thank you for topping up the tank. Water helps to flush toxins out of your system and improve circulation.

Regardless of issues such as cancer and heart disease, both smoking and alcohol are also major dehydrators. Sitting in a fug of smoke and drinking too much often results in itchy, irritated eyes, with dark circles. Try to cut down on alcohol and cigarettes and increase your intake of water, fresh juices, fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin vibrancy. Certain vitamins and nutrients can help promote good eye health. Vitamin A helps improve vision and is also thought to protect the youthful appearance around the eyes. Vitamin C helps safeguard collagen fibres in the skin, so helps to avoid wrinkles. Vitamin K is thought to lighten dark circles under the eyes.

All these vitamins are available as tablet supplements, but try to include them in your daily diet. For sources of vitamin A, try liver, carrots, spinach and dried apricots. Vitamin C is found in tomatoes, broccoli, oranges and other citrus fruits, while cabbage, cauliflower, leafy green vegetables and soya bean all contain vitamin K.
