Anna Nicole Smith’s Son’s Death Suspicious

The son of 20-year-old Anna Nicole Smith has died just three days after she gave birth to a baby daughter while visiting his mother in the hospital where the former Playboy playmate had given birth last week, a Bahamas police official said yesterday.
According to the police, Daniel Wayne Smith was found died sitting upright in a chair in his mother’s room at the private hospital Doctors’ Hospital in Nassau, Reginald Ferguson, where she was a patient. An investigation has been launched into how Daniel died. Anna Nicole’s lawyer, Howard K Stern, said in a statement: “We have yet to learn the cause of death but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
“Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being. Please do not make any press inquiries at this time so that Anna Nicole can grieve in peace.”

Police also confirmed that there were no signs of trauma on the body or of a struggle in the room. Assistant police commissioner Reginald Ferguson said that an autopsy was due to be performed at a local hospital.
According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force’s assistant commissioner, Reginald Ferguson, Daniel was found in his mother’s hospital room at about 9am on Sunday morning.
“He was found in a condition of non-responsiveness,” Ferguson told People magazine. “I am not certain who made the alarm, and doctors were called in but he was pronounced dead.”
Speaking of any possibility of drugs or alcohol being involved in the death, he said: “I don’t have any information which suggests any of those things. But he added: “It’s a matter that’s being investigated and we have not closed the door as such on anything.
“We are waiting the report from the pathologist to help us conclude what the cause of death was. The preliminary investigation showed there were no visible injuries to the body, no sign of any violence in that room of any nature â€“ nothing there to suggest what may be the cause of death.”

Anna Nicole’s mother said: “Vickie (Anna Nicole’s real name) always wanted a little girl but for this terrible tragedy to happen so soon after having a healthy little baby daughter is unbelievable.”

Daniel Smith was the product of Anna Nicole’s 1985 marriage to Billy Smith. The couple, who met while working together at Jim’s Krispy Fried Chicken in Mexia, Texas, divorced in 1987. The son had small roles in her movies “Skyscraper” and “To the Limit.” He appeared in her reality TV series The Anna Nicole Show.

Since being named Playboy’s Playmate of the Year in 1993, the former Vicki Lynn Hogan from Mexia, Texas, has never been far from the public spotlight. In 1994, she married wheelchair-bound oil tycoon J Marshall Howard II, 89, after meeting him at a strip club when she was 26 and he was 89.
His death, after 14 months of marriage, triggered a legal battle over his estate between Smith and his son, E Pierce Marshall. Earlier this year, she won a US Supreme Court decision giving her another chance to collect up to $1 billion. Pierce Marshall died in June at age 67. His family have vowed to continue the fight against Smith’s bid for a slice of the family fortune in his memory.
