Elin Nordegren Topless Bogus Photos Unacceptable, Tiger said

Swedish model, Elin Nordegren, catapults to the top 10 of the 50 most popular Internet search results for the week ending Sept. 23, 2006, as the controversy takes center stage. As top golfers from Europe and America take to the rolling of Ryder Cup tournament green fields of Ireland for this month tournament, Tiger Woods vehemently defends his wife, Elin Nordegren, against charges that she posed nude for porn websites. Elin Nordegren ‘topless’ photos were displayed and ripped by some Dublin magazine on the eve of the Ryder Cup.

Irish magazine, The Dubliner, printed pictures of a naked woman claiming that she was Elin Nordegren, while Woods countered that his wife had modeled bikinis but never nude.
According to the UK Daily Mail, Woods and the United States team are said to be “appalled” by the article in the latest issue of the Dubliner, which portrays the players’ wives and girlfriends as cheap on the eve of the Ryder Cup.
“Most American golfers are married to women who cannot keep their clothes on in public. Is it too much to ask that they leave them at home for the Ryder Cup? Consider the evidence - Tiger Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren can be found in a variety of sweaty poses on porn sites across the Web,” the magazine says.
Under the headline “Ryder Cup filth for Ireland” is a picture of a topless woman, but again - the photo is not of the 26-year-old Swedish model.

The publisher, Dubliner Media Limited, issued an apology saying it was a satire and didn’t expect anyone to take it seriously. “The publisher and staff at The Dubliner acknowledge that the satirical article was inappropriate and wish to sincerely apologize to Tiger Woods, his wife, Elin Nordegren and other Ryder Cup players and their families for any offense they may have taken to it,” said the statement.
It goes on to claim that Chad Campbell’s wife Amy is a ” largechested singer” and suggests that Jim Furyk’s wife Tabitha ” married geeky Jim as his winnings hit (in millions)”. The piece also says Sonya Toms, wife of David, finds it “liberating” to wear her bikini around the house.
“My wife, yes, she has been a model prior, and she did do some bikini photos,” Woods said. “But to link her to porn Web sites and such is unacceptable, and I do not accept that at all. Neither does our team.”

Woods said making public his feelings was a matter of sticking up for his wife. “You do things for the people you love and you care about,” Woods said. “My father got ridiculed for years, and I always felt for my father and my mother the same way. My wife, we’re in it together. We’re a team, and we do things as a team. And I care about her with all my heart.”
“It’s ridiculous,” Mark Steinberg, Wood’s agent said from IMG headquarters in Cleveland. “I can’t say much now because of prejudice, because I’m not sure what we’ll do in the future. Everyone knew it (the nude photo) wasn’t her. It’s plain as day. You can see it’s not factual. It’s kind of ironic they bring it up this week.” Steinberg also said the couple were considering legal recourse against the magazine.

Finally revealed that those are photos of Playmate Kimberly Hiott (also known as Kim Hiott) photoshoot for Playboy in December 2000 that has spawned a series of online cases of mistaken identity, according to the Sunday Times of London.
“Hiott’s nude photos appear on numerous sport and porn websites, which mischievously credit her as either Elin Nordegren, Woods’ wife, or as Helen Svedin, the model wife of the former Portuguese international footballer Luis Figo.”
Elin Maria Pernilla Woods (born Elin Maria Pernilla Nordegren, January 1, 1980, in Stockholm, Sweden) is a former bikini model, better known as the wife of pro golfer Tiger Woods.

With Woods and Nordegren yet to decide whether they will sue The Dubliner over its now-infamous article, the magazine offered offered to donate the proceeds of its September issue to the charity of Tiger Woods’ choice - if the American accepts an apology for the racy fake pictures and unseemly allegations it used in an allegedly satirical story.
