Do you know the famed Italian film actress Gina Lollobrigida? Maybe not. Gina Lollobrigida, known as La Lollo in her native Italy, who is 79, is a veteran Italian actress once dubbed “the most beautiful woman in the world” after the title of one of her movies in a 1950s. And what brings her to this post?
Gina Lollobrigida told Spain’s Hola magazine that she is marrying Spanish estate agent from Barcelona entrepreneur Javier Rigau, 45, whom she met at a party in Monte Carlo in 1984. She said they had secretly been seeing each other since then, reported by Reuters.
“I have always had a weakness (for) younger men because they are generous and they don’t have complexes,” she told the magazine. “Javier, like all Spaniards, is passionate, and I really love that.”

The two will get married in New York before the end of the year, Lollobrigida said in a telephone interview from her house in Rome. It will be her second wedding, following her 1971 divorce from Yugoslavian-born doctor Milko Skofic.
Lollobrigida said the couple plan to get married in the United States because “we have been bothered enough here, the telephone rings non stop”. She added that her Italian-designed wedding dress “will not be white”.
The Italian newspaper, La Stampa, reported the pair will tie the knot in November.
She have been dating Rigau Rafols for the past 22 years. She says they fell for each other when she was 57 and he 23. “They have gone mad here in Italy. I didn’t think I was going to set off such a bomb,” Lollobrigida said bashfully.

“Javier, like all Spaniards, is passionate, and I really love that,” she added.

Lollobrigida appeared in a list of films in the 1950s and 1960s including “La Donna Piu Bella del Mondo” (“The World’s Most Beautiful Woman”), rivalling another Italian beauty, Sophia Loren. By the late 1960s she embarked on a successful career as a photographic journalist and began focussing on other interests, such as sculpting. She appeared in a few minor film in the 1990s and in 1999 ran unsuccessfully for one of Italy’s seats in the elections for the European Parliament.
She???s still pretty amazing: she certainly doesn???t look like any other 79-year-old I can think of, but neither does she look obviously tightened, bewigged or butchered by too much cosmetic surgery. There???s even a dedicated nightclub in Los Angeles ??? the Cougar Club (easy, tiger!) ??? that exists solely for the purpose of introducing older women to younger men, and very glamorous and unseedy it is too, apparently.

In both cases, you will ask yourself whether there is a financial motive for this unlikely pairing (not, apparently, in Lollobrigida???s case: she???s not that well off and her estate agent fianc?? owns masses of property). Even if there is, so what, really?
