Sexy or scary? Don’t ask that question to the Hollywood shop, Trashy Lingerie in Los Angeles has designed intimate apparel for Hollywood’s glitterati for more than 30 years. Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Heather Locklear, Carmen Electra and Paris Hilton have all snared slips and snips of the spicy lingerie wear.
Nicole Kidman reportedly grabbed a pirate costume, Paris Hilton bought “Belle” costume and used the corset to turn herself for a bunny disguise, and Carmen Electra plans to turn into a French maid and bought “New Burlesque” costume, which she combined with a “Frenchie” maid outfit. Raven Simone combined this “Nursie” costume with another costume to create a new look and a smokin’ hot officer of the law costumes. That should get the blood boiling.
Following this summer’s box-office success of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” pirate costumes become the hottest look for Halloween, according to retailers. Expect to see girls and boys with eye patches, and women and men with bandanas around their heads, it attracted young adults not only because its high-flying action sequences but also because of the popularity of the cast.
“Pirates is one category that really has been genderless and ageless,” reported Deborah Radman, public relations manager for national chain Party City in Louisville. It has a lot to do with the popularity of the movie. Kids think it’s cool, and adults can dress up fairly easily.”
“There are at least 40 pirate costumes and probably 10 new styles alone this year,” says Bridget Silvestri, Trashy’s PR director.
With more than 50 million people hosting or attending ghoulish get-togethers, Halloween and halloween costume has become the nation’s third biggest adult party day, after New Year and Super Bowl Sunday. This years’ top three young adult costumes are a witches, pirates and vampires, according to the study.
