Jewish Miss France, the blonde Alexandra Rosenfeld, has won the Miss Europe 2006 title in hot rivalry held in Kyiv, Ukraine, which hosted the annual contest for the first time. The beauty queen Alexandra Rosenfeld, 19, from the southern Languedoc region, who won Miss France last year scooped the additional crown at a gala ceremony in the Ukrainian capital Kiev beating 33 other contestants.
She was chosen by an international jury headed by Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli and wins 100,000 euros as well as a diamond crown said to be worth over 300,000 euros. The 1.73-meter (five feet seven inches) beauty was trailed by Miss Ukraine, Miss Spain, Miss Poland and Miss Belarus, including the beauty Miss Bulgaria-Europe Mariela Mumdzhieva.
The first runner up was Miss Ukraine followed by Miss Spain, Miss Poland and Miss Belorussia who were supposed to incarnate, as Rosenfeld, European elegance, beauty and the spirit of brotherhood.
Miss Languedoc’s Alexandra Rosenfeld, 19, was elected Miss France 2006 in Cannes festival hall (Palais des festivals) from the 45 candidates on Saturday 3rd December. She was presented with the crown by her predecessor Cindy Fabre, who had to leave China where she was representing France at the Miss World pageant to make it to the ceremony. Alexandra is in her second year studying tourism and would like to open a travel agency. Her filmography consists of episodes in some French TV programs, including reality show “Fort Boyard”.
This Jewish beauty is all blue, white and red, the proper order of those three colors.
Earlier this year, Alexandra took part in a French demonstration against anti-Semitism and racism on February following the brutal murder of a young Jewish phone salesman Ilan Halimi in Paris.
According to European Jewish Press, when Alexandra won her crown as Miss France, the organizer Genevieve de Fontenay reacted to anti-Semitic comments made of Alexandra by saying: “This is the first year we have a young Jewish woman but so what? Alexandra has the right to be Miss France.” She received lots of anti-semitic comments on online websites and forums.
Some rare viewers posted unfriendly remarks on forums such as www.aufeminin.com, calling Rosenfeld “sale youpine” (”dirty Jewish”) and accusing the producers of orchestrating the victory of the Jewish candidate. They said that since the rights of the program were owned by Endemol which belonged at the time to Jewish producer Arthur and his associate Stephane Courbit, Rosenfeld was propelled to the top.
Rosenfeld didn’t comment these forum remarks.
