Lingerie maker Triumph has unveiled a brassiere whose cup padding unfolds to become a handheld shopping bag. This could be an alternative for Japanese women who don’t indulge in the national passion of buying designer bags and who care about the environment.
It’s called the “The No Plastic Bag Bra,” which is made of recycled polyester and aimed at wooing socially responsible consumers. The straps can be tied onto the bag as ribbons and available in five flavours – red, blue, green, yellow and pink. Matching underwear has a place for a card that even says, “no plastic shopping bags.” Designed to ensure that the sexy shoppers of Japan never leave home without a reusable and environmentally friendly shopping sack, the No Bra converts easily from supportive negligee to useful carrying bag.
Triumph International Japan Ltd, makers of the eco-bra, has regularly designed bras aimed at drawing attention to social issues – and to raise its own profile. It’s the second time Triumph they have tried to woo socially responsible consumers.
Last year it marketed a bra which can be warmed in a microwave to cut indoor heating bills. Read more of Japanese Designer Makes Eco-Friendly Bra
This could be a bad news for Malaysian women, reported that more non-Malaysian men, like ethnic Chinese and Indian, chose to marry foreign women from countries such as China, Vietnam and Thailand, with Indonesians topping the list of brides, while the trend of local women marrying foreign men is on the decline. Deputy Home Minister Datuk Tan Chai Ho revealed that 33,995 marriages between local men and foreign women were registered from 2001 to June this year.
Indonesian women were the top pick of Malaysian men with 2,036 marriages registered in 2005, up sharply from 1,386 in 2001.”The number of such Malaysians who married foreigners increased from 3,953 in 2000 to 7,277 last year. The statistics show an upward trend,” he added. The intervening years saw 4,085 Malaysian men marrying foreign spouses in 2001, 4,847 (2002), 5,123 (2003), 5,701 (2004) and 7,277 (2005).
Any explain why Malaysian men preferred foreign wives? “As far as I know, and from what had been conveyed to me by men who married foreigners, the demands of these foreign women are not as excessive as their Malaysian counterparts. They are also unassuming and soft-spoken,” Datuk Tan answered. Read more of More Non-Mulim Marrying Foreign Women, Malaysian Mariage Trend
Stockholm???s Karolinska Institute is warning that soft drinks and juices are the products we should avoid most. High consumption of sweetened food and drink increases the risk of developing pancreatic cancer. A heavy intake of fizzy drinks, creamed fruit and sugar in coffee are three common ways of increasing the risk.
Researchers at the Karolinska Institute studied the diets of almost 80,000 men and women between 1997 and 2005. A total of 131 developed pancreatic cancer, a deadly form of the disease that is difficult to treat. Researchers says those who drink sugary drinks twice a day or more double the risk of getting the cancer, and those who have sugar in five or more cups of coffee a day have a seventy per cent increased risk.
“Scientists have now, for the first time, shown that the consumption of sweetened food and drink affects a person’s chances of developing pancreatic cancer,” the Karolinska Institute said in a statement issued on Wednesday. Read more of Sugary Fizzy Drinks and Risk Of Pancreatic Cancer
