Madonna Design New Clothing Line With H&M

Madonna, the Material Girl has teamed with high street retailer H&M to launch her new line of clothing M by Madonna clothing line, the affordable fashion chain announced. Collaborated with Margareta van den Bosch, H&M’s head of design, to create the line, which will be launched in March. The pop singer, who is known for her chameleon-like ability to reinvent her own look, follows in the steps of fashion industry heavyweights Stella McCartney, Victor & Rolf and Karl Lagerfeld in collaborating with the label and will rival Kate Moss’s designing efforts at Topshop.
The collection, entitled “M by Madonna”, will consist of wardrobe staples and accessories and will be available in all stores carrying women’s wear as of March 2007, H and M said.
The collection, entitled ‘M by Madonna’ and will consist of classic designs and accessories which “reflect Madonna’s timeless, unique and always glamorous style”.
Madonna said: “I’ve made no secret of my love of fashion over the years. Working with Margareta and H&M was an exciting and new creative challenge for me.” This is the second time the world-famous singer collaborates with the Swedish clothing chain. H&M supplied Madonna and her entire entourage with a complete offstage wardrobe for the Confessions World Tour that began on May 21.
48-year-old Material Girl, who worked on the range with Swedish H&M’s head of design Margareta van de Bosch, already has a strong relationship with the brand. A modelling campaign featuring the singer ran during her ‘Confessions’ world tour, and the Swedish firm also provided offstage outfits for the star and her entourage.
“Madonna has an impressive feel for fashion and trends. She was extraordinarily style conscious, passionate and was involved in even the smallest details of every design,” Hennes & Mauritz head of design Margareta van den Bosch said.
Established in 1947, H&M has about 1,300 stores in 24 countries. Both the H&M Clothing line and H&M stores are appearing in markets across the United States. The retailer began with a bargain priced fashion-forward clothing line 50 years ago and has evolved. Madonna also has a successful children’s clothing line called “English Rose Collection.”
Meanwhile, Madonna and Guy Ritchie remain embroiled in the process of adopting 14-month-old David Banda from Malawi. A judge ruled last month that a coalition of human rights groups could be a party to the assessment of the couple’s fitness to adopt the child.
The first evaluation is expected to take place in May.
