Anna Nicole Smith could become more of a money-maker in death than she was in life. The sales ranking for the DVDs of the blonde beauty’s reality TV show has soared a staggering 180,000 per cent on Amazon.com since her death. Copies of 1993 Playboy magazines featuring Smith are being bought for up to US$1000 ($1450) on eBay.
And Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron has been tipped to play Anna Nicole Smith in a film about Anna Nicole Smith’s life. According to Contactmusic, Hugh Hefner, owner of Playboy, would love Charlize Theron to play Anna Nicole on the big screen and may take on the role of Anna Nicole Smith in a film adaptation about the life and times of Anna Nicole according to a report. A source revealed, “You couldn’t make up a life story like Anna’s. Studios are falling over themselves to pay tribute to an incredible woman. There are a number of actresses who could play Anna, with Charlize the favourite.”
Charlize Theron is the perfect actress to play real-life women with heavy burdens and unfortunate endings. This won’t be the first time the 31-year-old South African has played a controversial real-life character. Charlize won an Oscar in 2004 for her portrayal of US serial killer Aileen Wuornos in ‘Monster’.
Anna Nicole died last Thursday, after being found unconscious in Hollywood’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Her death came during a time of personal grief, her 20-year-old son Daniel died five months ago, and in the middle of a bitter paternity battle over her daughter Dannielynn. After a failed teenage marriage she moved to Houston to become a stripper and met elderly oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall. Anna Nicole, 26, married Marshall, 89, in 1994, but he died the following year. She spent the next decade battling his family for his estate. It was till unsettled at the time of her death.
This is a woman who by most accounts was “famous for being famous.” At the end of the day, “famous for being famous” is a nice way of saying no one’s really sure why we knew who she was.
I never believed anyone else found her interesting, either. Ironically, I think the most interesting thing she ever did was die. Which makes the endless news coverage of her death all the more puzzling.
Even in death, Anna Nicole Smith has no privacy, the Hollywood Police Department is releasing the 911 tapes today from the day the former Playboy Playmate died. Hollywood rescue was dispatched to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Thursday after Smith’s private nurse found the reality T-V star unconscious in her hotel room and called 911. The tape shows Anna Nicole Smith’s last moments while the paramedics tried in vain to revive the unconscious star.
