What’s Hot from Antonella Barba?
Antonella Barba’s recent incedent exposures may have done her more good than bad. The American Idol contestant came under intense scrutiny when some racy pictures of her were discovered. But rumors of being booted off the show shouldn???t bother Barba too much meanwhile fireworks erupt thanks to Frenchie Davis renewed protests.
Antonella Barba, whose topless and scantily clad photos have splashed onto home computer screens for the past few weeks, has an offer from the creator of the popular DVD series. According to a report from the Orlando Sentinel the much hyped 20-year old has received a $250,000 offer from Joe Francis to serve as a celebrity host.
“There’s a little ‘Girls Gone Wild’ in every woman, and this should be embraced as a positive, not a negative, ” Francis said via a press release issued today. “Antonella Barba is an unbelievably sexy girl who obviously knows how to have a good time, why are people being ridiculed and punished for being sexual? It’s ridiculous.”
Since provocative photos of Barba appeared on the Web, her notoriety has flourished. Yahoo! says she is the most-searched on the Web of the 16 contestants left.
A close friend of Idol semi-finalist Antonella Barba said the aspiring singer isn’t the subject of some graphically sexual pictures anonymously posted on the Internet last week. The pictures include one of four women posing topless at the beach, their hands covering their breasts, and others of a woman engaged in a sexual act.
Barba’s best friend, Amanda Coluccio, told The Star-Ledger of Newark that the less graphic photos are of Barba. But Coluccio denies it’s Barba pictured in the pornographic ones.
Unlike Antonella, spared from having to leave the competition because of her nude photos, Frenchie Davis got the boot from American Idol 2003 because of her lingerie photos posted on a Web site. “I don’t necessarily think that (its racism), but I can certainly look at this and understand why people would draw that conclusion,” Frenchie Davis said commenting on Ali???s statement.
She was quoted saying she???d welcome a public apology from AI for “the manner in which I was humiliated and the manner in which Antonella was defended and protected by the same people who humiliated me.”
The first big controversy of the show’s sixth season swelled Tuesday when fans and a civil-rights activist rallied to Davis’ side, saying she was the victim of unfair and potentially biased treatment. Davis is black; Barba is white. “We object to having one rule for black contestants and a different rule for white contestants who exhibit the same behavior,” said Najee Ali, community activist and founder of Project Islamic H.O.P.E.
Davis doesn’t necessarily believe racism is afoot but said that she can understand why people would draw that conclusion. The singer is currently starring in the Broadway version of the hit musical “Rent.”
