Madonna Hunts For New Talent, The Next “Big Shot”

Madonna is launching a new talent initiative in a bid to find the next cyberspace superstars. Madison Road Entertainment, celebrity production companies are starting to pull their socks up and Madonna’s company Maverick is joining in and has teamed up with Madison Road Entertainment to look for the next ‘Big Shot’ which will also be the name of the show that begins this September.
The idea of the project is to encourage wannabe actors, magicians, singers and entertainers to post video clips of themselves to the Big Shot website, and using a draw they put an assortment of these videos online where viewers, like you and me, can vote on their favourite.
Each person will be able to upload their profile, as well as a 30-second video showcasing their particular talent, which will then be voted on by a number of people with names like ILoveHotMadonna.
Set to launch Sept. 10, “Big Shot” will feature a different talent competition every day — singing on Monday or standup on Fridays, for example. “These individuals become marketable talent,” said Madison Road partner Jak Severson. “The notion is, as long as you’re popular, advertisers want to market around you.”
Madison Road and Maverick will share commercial revenue with the stations. Severson said conversations with potential affils have already begun. “Big Shot” is the second major online initiative announced by Madison Road in the past month. Company is also behind AOL’s upcoming “Million Dollar Bill” contest.
The winners will be flown to Hollywood and there they will audition for talent scouts and if you are a wannabe actor then you can win a Maverick produced movie or show! The details are still pretty vague and the fact that one can vote for themselves several times online is still an unsolved problem (so far).
At that time, you’ll be given the chance to impress someone live and in person (which, right away, could prove difficult for those who feel more comfortable acting like an ass in the comfort of their own home) and, if your series of cartwheels are enough to get someone to say, “Sure, we can use him/her as an extra on our new FX TV show,” then you could be on your way to red carpet stardom.
