The big screen version of Sex And The City has had its world premiere in London with hundreds of fans queued to catch a glimpse of the stylish stars of the film for the world premiere of their hotly anticipated film. Fantastic clothes, after all, are its “sixth character”. And with reports of tensions between the ever-glamorous co-stars over what they would wear to the film’s opening night in London’s Leicester Square, all eyes were on the arrival of the fabulous four.

All were dressed in the designer clothes that made the series about sex and shopping such a huge fashion-industry hit. Parker’s hat, bearing flowers, grasses and a butterfly, was complemented by a pale green dress by Alexander McQueen ??? an outfit Carrie would have loved. Cattrall wore a red Vivienne Westwood dress and Nixon was in a floor length black pleated Calvin Klein gown. Davis wore a more modest vintage fuschia dress.

Sarah Jessica Parker wowed the crowd with a Philip Treacy hat, complete with flowers and a butterfly. An exquisite, strapless, chartreuse tulle and feather prom dress, teamed with a witty Philip Treacy hat festooned with flowers and butterflies, looked fresh and pretty on the 43-year-old actress.
Supporting another British fashion revolutionary was English-born actress Kim Cattrall, resplendent in a scarlet, off-the-shoulder taffeta dress by Vivienne Westwood. Kim Cattrall who plays feisty Samantha Jones wore an edgy, off-the-shoulder red Vivienne Westwood dress. The cowl neck that is the designer’s trademark tantalisingly exposed the actress’s decollete.

Cynthia Nixon chose a dramatic floor-length black pleated Calvin Klein gown. Nixon’s detractors will be staggered to note that hers was the most fashion-conscious statement of all: a daring, black maxi dress by Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein.
Also dressed in scarlet, Kristin Davis fuelled rumours that not even the four co-stars were party to details of each other’s outfits. Kristin Davis who plays the most conservative character on the show – looked very Charlotte-esque in a modest vintage fuchsia frock. Davis opted for “vintage”: a sleeveless, calf-length chiffon sheath. Covered to the neck, it was demure, yes, but perhaps the least ravishing of the four.

Just in case none of us remember, the producers of the much-awaited film version of the hit TV series remind fans with a quick recap at the start of the film where the four characters were at the point we left them when the series ended.
