Joe Simpson to Break Jessica-Tony

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo may have patched up their relationship, but it hasn’t been all sunshine, lollipops, rainbows and puppies. According to a source, the 27-year-old singer???s dad Joe Simpson had offered a broker a deal to sell his engagement and wedding to a magazine. “‘If you guys have a marriage, I can do the same [sell it] that I did with Ashlee,’” a source quoted Joe as saying.
Just before her sister Ashlee???s wedding, rumors started up that Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo were on the outs. But a recent trip to Dallas proved otherwise. The Blonde Ambition actress and her Cowboy quarterback boyfriend were spotted strolling arm-in-arm following a lunch outing at Dallas Primo restaurant.

The fervent Simpson dad/manager is defending his actions, telling Us Weekly: “It’s unfair to criticize me for what every manager does for his or her clients. And, in this business where people can quickly turn on you, who better than a parent to be working for his children?” (Umm…we think anyone else would be better. A father who has a history of commenting on his daughter’s boobs is just creepy.)
Us Weekly reported that as Nick and Jessica???s marriage was crumbling, dad-ager Joe was pitching a Simpson-Lachey holiday special. ???The only thing he???s really been wrong about was me getting married,??? Jessica told Access at the time. ???He thought I was too young and that it would ruin my career. But that???s the only thing my dad???s ever been wrong about.???

As tension grew, the Cowboys quarterback gave the alleged singer and actress an ultimatum: Tell dad to back the hell off! When asked for comment, Joe Simpson defended himself, saying ???It???s unfair to criticize me for what every manager does for his or her clients.???
???In this business, where people can quickly turn on you, who better than a parent to be working for his children???? For now, Romo and Simpson are back on, in ???a talking stage.??? Adds the source of their relationship, ???it???s in a middle-of-the-road state.???
Pals close to the music scene’s newest country crooner say Jessica is planning a quick summer get away for herself and beau Tony Romo. “She thinks they need some quality alone time,” says friend of Jess, who is still reeling after her relationship reached the breakup brink.
“She believes a vacation will really do a lot to reconnect them. Tony agreed to go, but it was all Jessica’s idea.”
