The trend of hair coloring has become significant these days. There are various brands of hair-dye can be easily found in the nearest supermarket. From dark to blonde, red or brunette, changing hair colors at home is no longer impossible. You can do it yourself without standing in a long line at your favorite hair salon.

Rachel Dowley a nineteen year old girl from Essex, UK, had almost got herself killed for using a brand of hair-dye, even after doing a patch test. She ended up on a hospital drip after her face swelled twice to its size, leaving her with permanent scarring.

She said after 46 hours of the patch test, there was no reaction shown, so she applied the rest of the bottle to her hair. But the next day, her scalp became itchy and her face began to swell.

According to the National Enquirer, Simpson, who has put on some noticeable weight in recent months, is expecting her first child with boyfriend Eric Johnson, an NFL player whom she has been dating since May. Eric once played for the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers, but failed to make a full time career out of it after suffering several injuries. They met after a mutual friend brought him to one of her parties about 5 weeks ago.

“Jessica is crazy in love with Johnson, so they’ve decided to make a baby,” a source told the Enquirer. “Her priorities have changed. All she can think of is motherhood. She’s happily eating for two and not the least embarrassed.”

According to a report released by the Washington-based Council of Graduate Schools, in the 2008-2009 academic year, women received over half of all doctorates, the number raised from 49 percent in 2007-2008 and 44 percent in 2000. The report represents more than 500 universities, not including professional degrees in law, business and medicine.

Nathan Bell, the council’s director of research and policy analysis said that the pipeline of women doctoral candidates was built since the 1980s, where they have received the majority of bachelor’s and master’s degree.

“Women are building on the gains of an earlier cohort of female scholars who were pioneers”, said Elizabeth Sutton, an assistant professor at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. The lady who received her Ph.D. in art history in 2009 also said that they used to have more female mentors to look up to.

Based on the disciplines, women earned only 22 percent of degrees in engineering, and 27 percent of math and computer science doctorates. However, they represented 60 percent in the social and behavioral sciences, 67 percent in education and a full 70 percent of doctoral recipients in the health science – the field which showed the greatest one-year increase in applications overall.
