While it may not be a special concern of people today, some disorders in thyroid glands when left unchecked can lead to chronic complications, especially to women.
The thyroid gland is located in front of the neck; with the shape resembling butterfly, the gland is often easy to touch. The function of this gland is to produce thyroid hormones that stimulate the metabolism of cells in the body.
Compared to men, women have 5 to 8 times bigger chances of having thyroid dysfunction. Because at certain phases in life, women experience the lack of thyroid hormones which makes them need more intake of iodine. Such as in when having menstrual cycles, experiencing pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, women actually need more iodine but mostly fail to realize this need, because the signs of thyroid deficiency (hypothyroid) are often mistaken as parts of pregnancy symptoms, like weakness, lethargy, difficult to think, and willing to sleep all day.
Not only pregnant women, thyroid deficiency also affects the fetus. Babies who are born with hypothyroid could experience problems with brain development and permanent growth problem, especially if the condition is treated too late. Read more of Women are More Vulnerable to Thyroid Disorders
The French fashion house, Louis Vuitton, recently made a breakthrough by announcing their teenage ‘new face’, Nyasha Maronhodze.
Nyasha, who was only 16 years old, had just begun her modeling career two years ago, after winning the UK Elite Model Look competition in 2009. Found by a talent scout of a modeling agency near her home in Northamptonshire, England, the Zimbabwe born model was then invited to London to attend the competition, still wearing her high school uniform.
Her winning soon dashed her name in the fashion industry with her debut show at London Fashion week, representing the work of Louise Gray, Clements Ribeiro, and Jonathan Saunders. She also made appearance at the fashion shows of Loewe, Emanuel Ungaro, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, and later Louis Vuitton in Paris, where she caught the attention of the fashion house.
Nyasha, who was claimed to be a tomboy, recently represented the haute couture collections ad campaign of Louis Vuitton, directed by Marc Jacobs, the house’s creative director. How difficult is shampooing your hair? As a matter of fact, shampooing your hair the right way does not only consist of pouring the shampoo onto your palm, rub it on your head, and rinse it clean. There are ways to shampoo your hair without causing tangles, especially if your hair is long, curly, or thick. It may require a little bit much more time than your usual shampooing, but the result is worth it.
Before you start, it is better to work the tangles off your hair. You do not have to comb your hair thoroughly, but at least use your finger to make it smoother; this process cuts down on possible matting problems. If you have long hair, it is better to separate it into four sections. Use hair clips to hold the hair sections.
Wet your hair thoroughly and make sure that all parts of hair are completely soaked. If your hair is very thick and/or long, a detachable shower head makes wetting every strand easier. It may take a few minutes to completely saturate your hair.

With so many brands of shampoo and conditioner in the market, finding the correct product for our hair can be a bit confusing. Basically, shampoo is meant to remove dirt and oil build ups from our hair and scalp, but using the wrong shampoo can make you end up with coarse, dry hair.
Before deciding to buy shampoo and conditioner, you need to know the type of your hair and determine the best product for it. Here are general clues for you in finding the most correct shampoo and conditioner for your hair type.
1. Coarse, curly hair
Curly hair tends to be dryer than straight hair, because the natural oil produced in the scalp does not travel as easy as on straight hair. The best shampoo for this kind of hair is the creamy one, with ingredients such as shea butter, germ oil, milk, or nut oil. They tend to coat the hair shaft and trapping the water inside. Women with ultra dry hair must use conditioner every after shampooing. Look for an ultra-moisturizing conditioner made especially for coarse hair. For extra-dry hair, use an intense moisturizing treatment every 2 weeks.
2. Fine, oily, or limp hair
Fine hair is in this group because it is susceptible to become oily or Read more of How to Choose the Correct Shampoo and Conditioner
