Today’s hairstyles normally involve certain chemical substances in the process. And most times, such process will cause some hair problems such as dryness, hair damage and dullness. To face these problems we better follow these tips below:
Hydrating
Never neglect the hairmask rituals; do it once in a week. Apply the hairmask cream to your hair shaft, let stand for a few minutes so that the essence of the cream will be absorbed by the hair, then rinse. For daily conditioning, apply your favorite conditioner from the middle of your hair shaft to your hair ends. Use the right conditioning cream which suits your hair type. Hair conditioning will help reducing split ends, color changing, and hair damage caused by hot styling tools.
Hair Massage
Massaging your scalp and hair while shampooing can help maintaining the blood circulation within the head and stimulate the oil glands. Avoid hair products containing high level of alcohol because they will make dry hair even worse.
Avoid tight hairstyles
Instead of styling your hair into tight ponytails, buns, or braids, opt for the loose ones. Also choose hair accessories which are made of soft materials that will help preventing hair damage.
Treat your hair gently when styling
Do not rub or comb your hair harshly when it is wet or damp, because that will slightly damage your hair. Use a rare-toothed comb to detangle your hair especially after hair wash. Read more of Hair Massage and Other Tips to Treat Dry Hair

Experiencing bad haircut is never been easy. Haircut is something that you cannot disregard just like that; it stays on a quite long period of time, and it gives big difference on your whole appearance.
However, a haircut is just a haircut, until it is primped and trimmed into another shape. The first thing to do after you have realized that you got a bad haircut is not panic. Talk your hairstylist right away (or, if you notice later, call him or her straightly). Be honest and do not threaten to fire your hairstylist or something like that. Most hairstylists will appreciate honesty if it is delivered well, and usually will offer to fix your bad haircut without any additional cost.
You can also ask your hairstylist to alter your bad haircut a little bit, so it will not look too hideous. Discuss with the hairstylist first about what style that you originally had in mind, then ask him or her to alter your bad haircut into something more favorable.
If the haircut is too short and you are stuck on it, own it. The only way to cope is to wear a hat or hair bow until your hair grows back. To fasten the hair growth, there are several things that you can try, such as prenatal vitamins that you Read more of The Aftermath of One Bad Haircut
Do you have hair resolution for this year? I do. I want to take a good care of my hair this year and keep it as natural as possible.
I was inspired by a New York blogger named Dani (a.k.a WhimsyCurl) who made a big decision in keeping her curly African American hair back to its natural condition. For sure, she had straightened her hair before, but then, somewhere around 2008, she decided to have it back to the way it was and to let it grow longer. Are you curious about the result? Well, in August 2010 Dani’s hair was just slightly past her waist, and still beautifully curly. I bet the next thing you are curious about is her secret.
The only answer Dani gave, when people asked about her secret was “I take good care of my hair.” Does it sound cliché to you? I’m telling you she really meant what she said, because Dani’s definition on ‘take good care’ are Moisturize, Protect, and Low Manipulation. Those are her three secrets.
Moisturize and ‘Seal’
Dani admitted that African American hair textures are notoriously dry, so keeping her hair well moisturized helps it remain pliable and elastic, because moisturized hair is less prone to breaking and snapping, and it behaves better as well as easier to style.
She also said that she has different levels in moisturizing her hair. The first one was using conditioning or moisturizing shampoo to wash her hair, and the second was deep conditioning with a moisturizing conditioner. After rinsing out the conditioner, she will apply leave in moisturizer to every strand in small sections. She does this to ensure that each strand gets moisturized. The last step she does before styling her hair, was applying coconut oil to ‘seal’ the moisturizer.
On a daily basis, she will moisturize her hair again to ensure it never gets dried out or crunchy/crispy. I suggest you to keep a small bottle of leave in moisturizer in your purse, so you can use it whenever you think your hair needs it. Dani also deep condition her hair weekly, she noticed her hair respond better when it’s deep conditioned regularly.
“Learn how your hair needs moisture by noticing how it feels and seeing how it responds to your touch,” wrote Dani in her hair blog.

Grammy Award is not just about music show and musical appreciation, but also about the trend. Whether they would be fashion, makeup or hairstyle, celebrities seem always compete to show their best looks and, in turn, becoming the walking guidebook of styles for us. Here are some hairstyles that become the fad from Staples Center, Los Angeles, on last February 13th.
Super Long Hair Extension
Although short hair becomes hip this year, but long hair is still very much liked by celebrities. Among the Grammy Award guests who sported long hair was Ciara with her backside-length hair with slight curls. Jennifer Hudson put super straight and long hair extension, while Jennifer Lopez preferred voluminous long hair style.
Curly and Wavy Texture
Jada Pinkett-Smith looked different with her voluminous curly hair. Kim Kardashian, as always, put sexy look with her long, black hair that showed wavy texture. Jenna Ushkowitz, who plays Tina in “Glee,” dressed up her usually long hair with curls a la beach girls.
Red Hair Beauties
The color trend of 2011 is bright colors that show spring and summer, and many celebrities in 2011 Grammy Award already wore them. Not only on their dresses, but also their hair. Rihanna, who a couple while ago shocked the trend followers by sporting red afro-curly hairdo, chose shoulder-length red hair that made her look sweet and feminine. Hayley Williams from Paramore band brought herself on the spotlight by sporting bright red color on her hair, with thick bangs that covered her forehead.

We are now facing winter, the season which brings many joys. From Thanksgiving, Christmas, and soon the door step to the New Year. These celebrations are really a great charm to the season. But unfortunately, this is the season that welcomes worst hair days for many of us. So you must have noticed the ‘Hair Alert’ at the beginning of the season. You have been reminded to have an extra care treatment, because in the season, your hair will become dry, rough, and dead. We certainly don’t want this dreadful condition, do we?
So here are some hair rescue tips for this joyful season:
- Head Cover
First of all, avoid stepping outside of your door without covering your head. You can use a hat or scarf to protect your hair from the cold winter wind. Make sure it is comfortable and loose enough for your head, that the cover still allows proper air circulation for your hair and scalp.
- Dry Shampoo
Avoid washing your hair every day, because not only it will further dry your hair, but it can also damage the growth. Use dry shampoo, such as baby powder, if you need your hair to be fresh looking every day. Just sprinkle some powder over your head and comb your hair gently.
- Moisturizer
Whenever you wash your hair, don’t forget to use moisturizing conditioner, as it will nourish and provide essential nutrients for your hair and scalp. Never use clear shampoos which are meant for an extreme oily hair only, or washing your hair with hot water. Clear shampoo and hot water will tend to deprive your hair from oils, especially the important natural hair oils which are beneficial for your hair during winter.
Avoid contact with excessive heat, such as the using of hair dryers and straightening irons. Read more of Winter Hair Alert!
