Dorian Leigh, one of the world’s first supermodels, whose signature work for Revlon’s “Fire and Ice” advertisements remains renowned on Madison Avenue, died Monday at Sunrise of Falls Church, Va. She was 91 and had Alzheimer’s disease.
Ironically, so many years after she became famous in the 1940s and 1950s, there may not be a supermodel who has yet surpassed Dorian Leigh. She not only managed to model throughout the 40s and 50s but segued from acting to writing to owning her own modeling agency. Me and my marketing crew recently have been assigned to do campaign following the launch of our new products. And so, it means hard works. New product needs to be introduced to the market and hopefully attracts people to use our new products. So we began with mass media advertisings, such in newspapers, magazines, and radios. We also put flyers and billboard on the main street to get attention. And not only that, after we had our weekly discussion, we decided to open our own booth in products exhibition near the city hall. We think it would be great to introduce our products live in front op a lot of people, so they can test it on their own and take credits on it.

This could be a bad news for Malaysian women, reported that more non-Malaysian men, like ethnic Chinese and Indian, chose to marry foreign women from countries such as China, Vietnam and Thailand, with Indonesians topping the list of brides, while the trend of local women marrying foreign men is on the decline. Deputy Home Minister Datuk Tan Chai Ho revealed that 33,995 marriages between local men and foreign women were registered from 2001 to June this year.
Indonesian women were the top pick of Malaysian men with 2,036 marriages registered in 2005, up sharply from 1,386 in 2001.”The number of such Malaysians who married foreigners increased from 3,953 in 2000 to 7,277 last year. The statistics show an upward trend,” he added. The intervening years saw 4,085 Malaysian men marrying foreign spouses in 2001, 4,847 (2002), 5,123 (2003), 5,701 (2004) and 7,277 (2005).

Any explain why Malaysian men preferred foreign wives? “As far as I know, and from what had been conveyed to me by men who married foreigners, the demands of these foreign women are not as excessive as their Malaysian counterparts. Ang Mo Kio GRC MP Wee Siew Kim reported apologized Thursday in The Straits Times (24 Oct 2006) for remarks his daughter made on her Internet journal and his own comments about Singaporeans worried over jobs. “We both apologize to the people whom we have offended,” said Wee Siew Kim in his statement. Both Wee Siew Kim and her daughter, the principal of RJC, told The Straits Times yesterday that she had been counselled for using insensitive language. In his statement, Wee Siew Kim stood by her “basic point” that the well-educated should get on with challenges in life rather than complain to the government about them. “As a parent, I may not have inculcated the appropriate level of sensitivity, but she has learnt a lesson,” he added.

About this RJC girl named Ms Wee Shu Min, daughter of Ang Mo Kio GRC MP Wee Siew Kim, was forced to shut down her blog after nasty response to a blog posting by Mr Derek Wee which was put up as a result of his frustration of not being able to have his views aired on the Straits Times Forum Page.

It’s kinda silly, Ms RJC gal was slammed by most of the top forums in Singapore ((EDMW, SGForums, Sammyboyforum) and subsequently deleted her blog. Ms Wee Shu Min subsequently deleted her blog but the entry she posted kept reappearing in many places as it has been reproduced in a number of forums and blogs and heated discussions are still ongoing at the time of this report, still quite talked about now.
