Do you want to cover those acne blemishes without creating new breakout, while saving much more money than you spend on fancier cosmetic products? Here are some concealer products for those who have acne or pimples, and with affordable prices (mostly under or around $10). Plus, some of these products even have ingredients to help healing pimples. However, if you are currently using any topical acne treatments, use medicated concealers with care. Watch for dryness, peeling, flaking or skin irritation. Scale back use or switch to a non-medicated brand.
1. Revlon ColorStay Blemish Concealer
This is a medicated concealer product that contains 0.5% salicylic acid, but this is not meant for a thorough acne treatment. It covers well enough, long lasted, and will not cause breakout, but some might find the odor to be slightly peculiar (it disappears when the concealer goes dry).
2. Physicians Formula Concealer Twins, SPF 10
This concealer is a two-in-one product; the green color corrector that works in toning down redness of active pimples and red spots caused by older blemishes, and concealer to match the skin tone. The formula is hypo-allergenic, fragrance-free, and non-comedogenic. It does not contain any blemish-fighting ingredients, but do not use it under the eye since it feels a bit burning.
3. Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free Concealer
This product contains 0.5% salicylic acid, and shapes like a pen to make it easy for you to apply and blend the concealer. However, this product does not have many choices in color, and probably would not work well for medium to dark brown skin.

Compared to men, women have 5 to 8 times bigger chances of having thyroid dysfunction. Because at certain phases in life, women experience the lack of thyroid hormones which makes them need more intake of iodine. Such as in when having menstrual cycles, experiencing pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, women actually need more iodine but mostly fail to realize this need, because the signs of thyroid deficiency (hypothyroid) are often mistaken as parts of pregnancy symptoms, like weakness, lethargy, difficult to think, and willing to sleep all day.
Not only pregnant women, thyroid deficiency also affects the fetus. Babies who are born with hypothyroid could experience problems with brain development and permanent growth problem, especially if the condition is treated too late. Read more of Women are More Vulnerable to Thyroid Disorders

A team of medical researches at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna have found correlation between synthetic sex hormones and breast cancer. Synthetic sex hormones called progestins, which are usually used in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and contraceptives, have mechanism that allows themselves to directly affect mammary cells and cause breast cancer.
The researchers used mice to show that progestins can trigger RANKL, the master regulator of healthy bones, in the mice’s breast cells. And this is the key mechanism; these mammary cells starts to divide and multiply, but failed to die. Moreover, the stem cells in the breast become able to renew themselves, and ultimately resulting in breast cancer. Another similar study also showed that progestins stimulate the blood supply that feeds small tumors and causes them to grow, a process called angiogenesis. This study later published in the Journal of the American Medical Assn.
But the different side of similar research has taken place at Amgen. Read more of What’s Inside Your Contraceptives? Synthetic Sex Hormones and Breast Cancer
