<p>1.       Revlon ColorStay Blemish Concealer</strong><br />
This is a medicated concealer product that contains 0.5% salicylic acid, but this is not meant for a thorough acne treatment. It covers well enough, long lasted, and will not cause breakout, but some might find the odor to be slightly peculiar (it disappears when the concealer goes dry).<br />

2.       Physicians Formula Concealer Twins, SPF 10</strong><br />
This concealer is a two-in-one product; the green color corrector that works in toning down redness of active pimples and red spots caused by older blemishes, and concealer to match the skin tone. The formula is hypo-allergenic, fragrance-free, and non-comedogenic. It does not contain any blemish-fighting ingredients, but do not use it under the eye since it feels a bit burning.<br />

3.       Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free Concealer</strong><br />
This product contains 0.5% salicylic acid, and shapes like a pen to make it easy for you to apply and blend the concealer. However, this product does not have many choices in color, and probably would not work well for medium to dark brown skin.<br />

4.       Almay Clear Complexion Concealer</strong><br />
This product contains 1.0% of salicylic acid and may heal pimples fastly, but it will also be too drying. If your skin starts to peel or becomes irritated, try using the concealer less often, or choose a different concealer with a lower percentage of salicylic acid. Again, the darker skin might feel difficulties in blending the right color.<br />

<p><strong>The thyroid gland is located in front of the neck; </strong>with the shape resembling butterfly, the gland is often easy to touch. The function of this gland is to produce thyroid hormones that stimulate the metabolism of cells in the body.</p>
<p><strong>Compared to men, women have 5 to 8 times bigger chances of having thyroid dysfunction.</strong> Because at certain phases in life, women experience the lack of thyroid hormones which makes them need more intake of iodine. Such as in when having menstrual cycles, experiencing pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, women actually need more iodine but mostly fail to realize this need, because the signs of thyroid deficiency (hypothyroid) are often mistaken as parts of pregnancy symptoms, like weakness, lethargy, difficult to think, and willing to sleep all day.</p>
<p><strong>Not only pregnant women, thyroid deficiency also affects the fetus. </strong>Babies who are born with hypothyroid could experience problems with brain development and permanent growth problem, especially if the condition is treated too late.<span id="more-2961"></span></p>
<p><strong>To prevent the condition, women are suggested to perform thyroid screening to monitor the level of TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) through blood tests.</strong> Low TSH suggests that you are closer to hyperthyroidism, and have too much thyroid hormone circulating; while high TSH suggests that you are closer to hypothyroidism (underactive) or having less thyroid hormone circulating.</p>
<p><strong>Thyroid hormone drugs such as Sunthroid, Levoxyl, Armour, Thyrolar, etc </strong>are normally given to those who experience hypothyroid to make the hormone reach the normal level.<br />
 <strong><br />
Currently, about 300 million people in the world experiencing thyroid gland malfunctions and more than half are unaware of their condition. </strong>Regarding the disease, The International Thyroid Day is commemorated every May 25th to raise awareness and promotes the importance of maintaining healthy thyroid gland.</p>

<p><strong>The benefit of drinking coffee to breast health was revealed by Dr Per Hal, a medical professor of Karolinka Institute, Sweden.</strong> Dr Hal involved about 5,929 women in Sweden with the age ranging from 50 to 70 in the study and found about 50 percent of the participants were affected by breast cancer after a few years observation.</p>
<p><strong>When compared between lifestyle and other factors, Dr Hal found that the habit of drinking coffee and breast cancer are actually related. </strong>The participants who drank 5 cups of coffee a day had about 33 to 57 percent lower chance to cancer compared with those who drank less than a cup a day. The types of breast cancers which influenced by the habit of drinking coffee is the Estrogen-Resistant Negative (ER-) type.<br />
<span id="more-2891"></span><br />
<strong>There had been a few studies conducted before, in order to learn the link between coffee and cancer risk, </strong>but the compounds within coffee which play an important role to the link was not yet known. Dr Hal himself as stated in his report wouldn’t even recommend drinking more coffee before the exact biological mechanism of this relationship is known.</p>
<p><strong>Another study which was also held in Sweden revealed that coffee can cause negative impact to breast.</strong> According to the study, drinking more than 3 cups of coffee per-day can reduce the size of breast.</p>
<p><strong>So, as mentioned previously by Dr Hal, before there is an explanation of the biological mechanism between the coffee compounds with breast cancer it </strong>should be wise to not consuming an excessive amount coffee only to be free from the risk of breast cancer.</p>

<p><strong>Miss V has an ability to produce fluid as response to sexual arousal and physical activity.</strong> As long as the fluid is colorless and odorless, then the condition is normal.</p>
<p><strong>In order to maintain the cleanliness and health of Miss V, the vulva area must also be kept clean and dry to prevent certain infections. </strong>Humid environment around the vagina can cause bacteria and fungi to grow rapidly, because such condition is an ideal condition for them grow and later cause infections. Candida albicans is the most common yeast that attacks Miss V, it causes itchiness around vaginal area, and burn sensation while urinating.</p>
<p><strong>To keep the feminine area clean and dry, there are several things you must do:</strong><br />

1.    Clean the vaginal area with water. Let the water flow from front to back right after urinating or defecating. This can prevent the bacteria from the anus getting into the vagina.</p>
<p>2.    Dry the vaginal area and its surroundings with tissue or small towel. Keep the condition dry by changing the underwear every time it feels too damp or wet.</p>
<p>3.    Don’t use too tight clothing, especially the ones which are tight at the groin area. Wearing such apparels will make the area easily sweating.</p>
<p>4.    Wear only cotton underwear because it absorbs the sweat well. Avoid nylon underwear because it can reduce the air flow to the vaginal area. Change your panty at least two times a day.</p>
<p>5.    Change your wet swimming suit or other wet sport apparels as soon as you’re done exercising.</p>
<p>6.    If you are having menstrual period, change the pad regularly and choose the one which are made of materials that will not cause irritation.</p>
<p>7.    If you need to use panty-liner, avoid wearing it the whole day because it will likely increase the humidity which can attract fungus or yeast to grow. Also opt for the non-perfumed panty-liner.</p>

<p><strong>When her doctors told her that her life was only a matter of weeks</strong> after all the treatments she had been through came out with no success, Natalie Langworthy was almost giving up everything.</p>
<p><strong>She was first diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March 2010, and had to undergo 4 cycles of chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants after tha</strong>t. About 2,5 months later, the cancer relapsed when she went for blood test to find out how many white blood cells she had.</p>
<p><strong>And two days after the check-up,</strong> she met a consultant who suggested her to run another chemotherapy to make her feel comfortable until the day she died, as she said to The Sun on March 17.</p>
<p><strong>Gladly her fiancé, Andy, didn’t give up and started doing several researches online about the type of leukemia Natalie experienced.</strong> He spent many hours in front of the computer sending e-mails and looked for help with many bad news as <span id="more-2751"></span>replies.</p>
<p><strong>Andy admitted that he began to think for the worst possibility that there was no relief for Natalie’s cancer and that she eventually would die.</p>
<p>But early in the next morning he received an e-mail from a friend in California,</strong> who gave a detail about an experiment in Germany which seemed to be suitable with Natalie’s diagnosis. He immediately sent an e-mail to the hematologist in Germany and the doctor told him that Natalie could join the study.</p>
<p><strong>Natalie had to travel in a supine position during the flight, since the number of her white blood cells was high.</strong> She also received oxygen during the trip to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).</p>
<p><strong>Upon their arrival in Germany, as Natalie participated in the experiment, she was given a medicine named Blinatumomab. </strong>The medicine worked by getting attached to the leukemia cells and then it activated her body’s immune system and destroy them.</p>
<p><strong>Two days after the treatment, the test showed that there was no remaining leukemia in her blood circulation, but they moved to her bone marrow.</strong> When a bone marrow biopsy was done, Natalie was given the medicine again and in the next 5 days, she heard a good news that her leukemia cells were decreased.</p>
<p><strong>Although she was happy for the news, she still needed to take medications and carry a small pump in a shoulder bag.</strong> The medicine need to be continually taken for 4 weeks. Then she needs to take rest for 2 weeks before the next treatment.</p>
<p><strong>According to Natalie, the treatment was so much better compared to the chemotherapy which had terrible side effects. </strong>She said she didn’t feel weak during the treatment, and even felt like she gain new power from both the medication and the team of doctors who saved her life.</p>
<p><strong>Blinatumomab is an antibody which has 2 arms;</strong> one arm will hold the body’s immune system, while the other will grab the leukemia cells. These immune cells will then attack and kill the existing leukemia cells.</p>
<p><strong>It hasn’t known yet whether Blinatumomab will work effectively on other types of leukemia or not.</strong> The experts still need to conduct more researches to find out what the medicine can and cannot do, and whether the drug will become a routine treatment for leukemia or not.</p>
<p><strong>In spite of those uncertainties, the treatment result experienced by Natalie must have given determination as well as hope for all cancer patients around the world.</strong></p>

The Food and Drug Administration of the United States warns “the use of permanent cosmetics can cause serious, long time, and appalling reactions.”</p>
<p><strong>Some risks of permanent cosmetics that might occur:</strong></p>
<p><strong>1. Infection, irritation, and allergic reactions</strong><br />
The use of unsterilized equipments can cause infections, and the worst, is the risk of hepatitis or HIV/AIDS transfer. Besides that, the color pigment which used for tattooing could generate several reactions to each person, such as allergic reactions.</p>
<p><strong>2. Disappointing results</strong><br />
You might dislike the first result of your beauty tattoo, either the color or the shape. To do certain corrections you might need time to recover from the previous treatment and perhaps, an extra cost.</p>
<p><strong>3. Impossible Removal</strong><br />
It is impossible to completely remove permanent cosmetics. There is always risk of permanent scarring even with laser technology.<span id="more-2407"></span></p>
<p><strong>4. Color Fading</strong><br />
Permanent cosmetics designed to be ‘permanent’ just like tattoo. But the truth is, even tattoo can fade over time. To maintain the result, you will need follow-up treatment after a few years, and that means another extra cost.</p>
<p>The cost of permanent cosmetics range from $350 to $600 depends on the procedure used. If you think the cost worth the risks I mentioned above, perhaps you can start looking for the nearest cosmetic surgeon. Please make sure you find a reliable and professional surgeon to do your permanent cosmetics. As for me, I would rather stick with the trouble of putting make up every day.</p>

<p>The researchers used mice to show that progestins can trigger RANKL, the master regulator of healthy bones, in the mice’s breast cells. And this is the key mechanism; these mammary cells starts to divide and multiply, but failed to die. Moreover, the stem cells in the breast become able to renew themselves, and ultimately resulting in breast cancer. Another similar study also showed that progestins stimulate the blood supply that feeds small tumors and causes them to grow, a process called angiogenesis. This study later published in the Journal of the American Medical Assn.</p>
<p><strong>But the different side of similar research has taken place at Amgen.</strong><span id="more-2366"></span> In another set of mouse treatment tests, researchers have found that pharmacologic blocking of the RANKL system significantly delays mammary tumor formation, leading to significantly fewer breast cancers in mice. And in another mouse model, RANKL inhibition not only decreased breast tumor formation, but also reduced lung metastasis.</p>
<p>Professor Josef Penninger said, as quoted by Nature, “I have to admit it completely surprised me just how massive the effects of the system were. Millions of women take progesterone derivatives in contraceptives and for hormonal replacement therapy. Since our results show that the RANKL system is an important molecular link between a synthetic sex hormone and breast tumors, one day women may be able to reduce their risk by taking blocking medicines in advance to prevent breast cancer.”</p>
<p>Now, USA and many countries in Europe have also approved the using of monoclonal antibody called denosumab, that blocks RANKL, for the treatment of osteoporosis.</p>

<p>Previously, researchers found that those receiving the Prozac and cognitive therapy combination recovered faster from the first depression. That&#8217;s why, they expected those youths who received the therapy should be less prone to another depression. But although there was improvement after 36 weeks and complete recovery by two years, by five years, 47 percent patients suffered another major depression.</p>
<p><strong>According to Dr. John Curry, a psychologist in the psychiatry department at the Duke University School of Medicine, there seem to be no treatment yet that really prevents depression recurrence, and that they have no indicator of how protected the person was against recurrence, while they were still in treatment.</strong> He also said that while girls are known to be more prone to initial depression, it was unclear why 57 percent of girls who recovered became depressed again, compared with 33 percent of boys. &#8220;Maybe it has to do with something in girls around the particular age that this is going on, stressful life events or the way people cope with stress,&#8221; said Dr. Curry. While according to Dr. Aradhana Bela Sood, medical director of the Virginia Treatment Center for Children, it might be related to hormonal changes or that &#8220;women tend to brood more, so the slightest stress is multiplied many times.&#8221;<span id="more-2362"></span></p>
<p>“We don’t know if the disorder is recurrent because it’s recurrent or because something happens to you after the first episode that makes you more vulnerable to another one,” said Dr. David Brent, a psychiatry professor at University of Pittsburgh’s medical school. The study “points up the need for some kind of aftercare to prevent recurrence,” he said. Dr. Sood, who preferred to use different approach said, “As you counsel families, you can say there’s a 50 percent chance that this is going to recur,” and “now that we know that being female and having anxiety predisposes them, it’s certainly going to make me focus on the population who has this profile.” </p>

<p><strong>But have you ever notice whether the hair coloring product you bought is safe or not?</strong> Despite of the brand, the price, or the place where you bought it, and the possible effect of hair damage (especially if you don’t give extra care to your dyed hair), should there be any other bad sides of using hair-dye? What’s the worst could possibly happen?</p>
<p>Rachel Dowley a nineteen year old girl from Essex, UK, had almost got herself killed for using a brand of hair-dye, even after doing a patch test. She ended up on a hospital drip after her face swelled twice to its size, leaving her with permanent scarring.</p>
<p>She said after 46 hours of the patch test, there was no reaction shown, so she applied the rest of the bottle to her hair. But the next day, her scalp became itchy and her face began to swell.</p>
<p>She was later hospitalized, given painkillers, steroids, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and hydrocortisone cream.<span id="more-2322"></span> The doctor of Southend Hospital told her that another treatment could kill her and that it was one of the worst reactions he’d ever seen.</p>
<p><strong>Actually it was not the first allergic reaction she experienced, but seemed like that wasn’t the issue.</strong> People have different immune system capability, it is possible that Rachel’s immune system was not as well as she expected in reacting against the hair-dye substances.</p>
<p>Somehow, one must not ignore the warnings attached in the package of a hair-dye product. Good products must remind the consumer to take allergic test on certain parts of the body 24 hours before the coloring.</p>
<p>So be cautious with your products! Read and follow the instructions carefully before applying.</p>

Some choose to wear braces and go for several painful treatments to finally get a better smile.</strong> In order to reach your goals you need to take care of the dental braces in between dentist visits so that your time, money and pain are minimized. Care and maintenance of your braces will add extra time to your at home dental care regime, but it is imperative that the task is carried out at least twice a day.</p>
<p><strong>Orthodontists recommend cleaning braces after every meal.</strong> Food particles are more easily trapped in the mechanisms of dental braces and can then fall through and become lodged between the teeth. While wearing braces, most of the foods you like can still be eaten if you cut them into small pieces that can be easily chewed. There are certain foods, however, that can break or loosen your braces and should be avoided, such as:</p>
<p>   1. Hard or tough-to-bite foods, such as apples or bagels<br />
   2. Chewy foods, such as taffy or caramels<br />
   3. Corn on the cob<br />
   4. Hard pretzels, popcorn, nuts, and carrots. In addition to foods, do not chew ice or bubble gum.<span id="more-2234"></span></p>
<p><strong>Brushing teeth also become a bit difficult when you have dental braces but caring for them becomes even more important.</strong> Otherwise food debris left in between the metal wires and the crevices in your teeth can lead to bad breath, cavities, bleeding gums and other such complications that can prolong the length and cost of the treatment.</p>
<p>o   Brush between wires and gums to loosen any food particles that may have lodged in your dental braces. There are special toothbrushes for this, check with your orthodontist or dental care provider for recommendations.</p>
<p>o   Start on the outside of your upper teeth, positioning the bristles at a 45 degree angle, toward the gum. Brush two to three teeth at a time using a circular motion, about ten strokes. Next, brush the inner surfaces in the same manner.</p>
<p>o   Brush the chewing surfaces.</p>
<p>o   Repeat the same process for the lower teeth as for the upper ones.</p>
<p>o   Rinse your mouth as well as your toothbrush. Check your teeth in a mirror to make sure you&#8217;ve brushed all tooth surfaces.</p>
<p>o   Floss daily between dental braces using a floss threader.</p>
<p><strong>Contact your orthodontist as soon as a bracket pops off. If you leave the bracket off for even a day, it can damage other parts of your braces and set your treatment back considerably.</strong> The responsibility for the care and maintenance of braces is down to the wearer. Likewise, a daily dental cleaning routine will help cut problems such as gum infection and tooth decay. Be sure to schedule regular dental care exams every three to six months for cleanings to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Ask your dentist and orthodontist how often they wish to see you.</p>

Here&#8217;s how to prevent breast cancer with natural and healthier include:</p>
<p><strong>1. Exercise regularly.</strong><br />
Research shows that in line with the increasing activity, the risk of breast cancer will be reduced. Exercising will derive estrogen levels produced by the body thus reducing<br />
breast cancer risk.</p>
<p><strong>2. Reduce the fat.</strong><br />

Such conditions are categorized as emotional eating or compulsive eating, namely, the circumstances in which a person has an addiction or obsession with something related to food. Patients with emotional eating actually aware that her eating pattern is abnormal. But they do not seek help, because they are regarded as being greedy.</p>

The fact is that millions of women in the world are infected with HPV, which is considered to the disease through sexual intercourse most common in the world. According to World Health Organization (WHO), this infection is a major risk factor for cervical cancer. Every year, hundreds of thousands of undiagnosed cases of HPV in the world and thousands of women died of cervical cancer, caused by the infection. Given the fact that this horrible, then the various preventive measures and treatment have been made to address cervical cancer or cervical cancer. Cervical cancer occurs in the reproductive organs of a woman. The cervix is the narrow section at the bottom between the vagina and uterus of a woman.<span id="more-2070"></span></p>
<p><strong>What is HPV?</strong><br />
Cervical cancer is caused by a viral infection HPV (human papillomavirus) or human papilloma virus. HPV causes warts in both men and women, including genital warts in, and called condyloma akuminatum. Only some of the hundreds of variants of HPV that can cause cancer. Cervical cancer can occur if there is an infection that does not heal for a long time. Conversely, most HPV infections will go away, overcome by the immune system.</p>
<p><strong>What are The Causes and The Symptoms of Cervical Cancer?</strong><br />
Cervical cancer attacks the cervix or cervical region caused by a viral infection of HPV (human papillomavirus) which did not recover in time. If the immune system decreases, the HPV infection can lead to cervical cancer. The symptoms are not too visible at an early stage, that&#8217;s why the beginning of cervical cancer HPV infection is considered as &#8220;The Silent Killer&#8221; because it is invisible.</p>
<p>When there is this virus in a person&#8217;s hand, then touching the genitals area, the virus will move and can infect the cervix or neck of your womb. Other modes of transmission are in the closet in a public restroom that has been contaminated by the virus. A cancer patient may use a closet, the HPV virus in patients who have moved into the closet. If you use it without cleaning it, it could be a virus and then switch to your genital area. So, clean and be careful before you use closet in public restroom.</p>
<p>Worse lifestyle of a person can become supporting the increasing number of patients with this cancer. Smoking habits, consuming less vitamin C, vitamin E and folic acid may be the cause.<br />
The risk of cervical cancer are women who have sex active since a very early age, which often change the sex partners, or who have sex with men who like to switch pairs. Another factor is the use of oral contraceptives for long periods or was from families who have a history of cancer.</p>
<p><strong>How to Treat Cervical Cancer?</strong><br />
If you are infected with HPV, do not worry, because currently available a variety of treatments which can control HPV infection. The way is removing the damaged part or infected with electric surgery, laser surgery, or cryosurgery (remove the abnormal tissue by freezing).<br />
If cervical cancer has reached an advanced stage, it will be done chemo therapy. In some severe cases may also be performed hysterectomy is surgical removal of the uterus or womb in total. The aim is to remove cervical cancer cells that have developed on the body.<br />
However, prevention is better than cure.</p>
<p><strong>How to Prevent Cervical Cancer?</strong><br />
Although cervical cancer is scary, but we can prevent it. You can do a lot of precautionary measures before ultimately infected with HPV and cervical cancer. Some practical ways you can do in everyday life, among others:<br />
• Have a healthy diet, rich in vegetables, fruit and cereal to stimulate the immune system. For example consume various carotenes, vitamins A, C and E, and folic acid can reduce the risk of cervical cancer.<br />
• Avoid smoking. Much evidence suggests the use of tobacco can increase your risk of cervical cancer.<br />
• Avoid sex before marriage or at the very young or teenage years.<br />
• Avoid having sex during menstrual period proved to be effective to prevent and inhibit the formation and development of cervical cancer.<br />
• Avoid sex with many partners.<br />
• In a routine Pap smear tests regularly. Currently Pap smears can be done even at the level of health centers with affordable prices.<br />
• Giving the HPV vaccine or vaccination to prevent HPV infection.<br />
• Perform cleaning of intimate organs or vagina known as a toilet. This can be done alone or can be also with the help of expert doctors. The goal was to clean the female sex organs from dirt and disease.<br />
Be careful when you are using public restroom and make sure that the closet is clean.</p>

So many clinics and places offered the best contraception for people. They offered it and say that it is safety and no risk. However, basically each contraception has it risk.<br />
The big or small risk is depending on the condition of the user. This is different one and another. Ones maybe adjust with a person but it also can be damage for another person. Take for example is pill KB. There are some people who get spots on their face after consume it. They also get obese and cirrhosis when they use pill KB as the contraception. It also several people who consume it and there is no effect at all. </p>
<p>For information, Hormonal contraception (pill, injection) cannot be consumed by people that are struggling with hypertension, have varicose veins, cirrhosis or lever, and kidney disease.  So, never try this kind of contraception if you are having one kind of disease that I have mention before. Contraception is safeties to whom that are healthy.<span id="more-2067"></span><br />
So, make sure that you are in a good condition while using contraception. If you are not feeling comfort with hormonal contraception, you can use spiral contraception, but it will give effect on your menstruation. Contraception that has little effect is condom, but it mostly makes your husband feel not comfort. </p>
<p>What kind of contraception that you choose is depending on you. But it would be better if you do consultation first with your doctor, so you can get clear explanation about the appropriate contraception for you. Worse contraception will give big damage effect for you especially women. It can influence your menstruation cycle.<br />
The key in here is whatever kind of contraception you choose, you have to be in a good condition. So, keep your health and choose what contraception you are interested in. </p>

The L.A.-based exercise diva — who has worked with Julia Roberts, Kim Basinger, Cindy Crawford and Kim Kardashian — provided tips to everyday office workers who can&#8217;t always (OK: ever!) find time to diet or go to the gym.<br />
Kaehler said&#8221;The key is trying to get more foods into your lifestyles that are fresh. Let&#8217;s say, an apple. That&#8217;s one step from the tree. That&#8217;s how you primarily want to lead your life.&#8221;</p>
<p>One of her top mottos is something called the 90/10 principle. Meaning 90 percent of the time, you are &#8220;good,&#8221; and in that remaining 10 percent you can go hog-wild on the cupcakes or chips.<br />
The mother of three said &#8220;That breakdown is realistic. We don&#8217;t want to be feeling that we are completely deprived. It&#8217;s about life and celebrations and taking that indulgence and not worrying, &#8216;Oh my gosh, I have to run out to the treadmill now.&#8221;<span id="more-2054"></span><br />
Kaehler advises, If you&#8217;re one of those employees who brings lunch to munch in between e-mails, pack well the night before.<br />
For instance, make a pasta dish with a protein (to fill you up) and a vegetable (to give you energy). When the 4 o&#8217;clock hungries hit, feel free to snack. But steer away from the typical vending machines full of fatty junk.<br />
&#8220;There are a lot of convenient things to take — things you can bring with you and not incur that expense on convenience food.&#8221;<br />
Dark chocolate is on the list. That’s a very good news, isn’t it!</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a great sweet but it also has lots of antioxidants in it,&#8221; she says. &#8220;Cravings are natural. Why not find something that will relieve that but not derail you?&#8221;<br />
Ditch the elevator and take the stairs for physical calorie busters. Walk around the office when you can and bypass the interoffice mail.</p>

Light beer and wine, as the other options, were not linked to such a risk.<br />
Brigham and Women&#8217;s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Boston University Researchers tracked 82,869 women who had not initially been diagnosed with psoriasis for about 15 years, from 1991 through 2005. The participants, from the Nurses&#8217; Health Study II, reported their own alcohol consumption and also, over the course of the study, reported whether a doctor had diagnosed psoriasis.<br />
The researchers found that even relatively moderate amounts of beer seemed to increase the risk of psoriasis, with 2.3 drinks a week driving up the risk almost 80%.<br />
And five beers a week more than doubled the risk of being diagnosed with this skin condition, as compared with teetotalers.</p>
<p><strong>Dr. Abrar A. Qureshi, lead author of the article appearing in the December issue of Archives of Dermatology said &#8220;We can say that if a woman would like to consume alcohol and if she has a family history of psoriasis or known psoriasis in the past or some other reason she might be predisposed to psoriasis, the alcohol of choice probably should not be non-light beer.”</strong><span id="more-2044"></span><br />
But director of research and medical programs at the National Psoriasis Foundation, Bruce Bebo, feels the findings &#8220;need more investigation to determine whether there&#8217;s a real connection or not.&#8221;<br />
And on the question of drinking in general, he added, &#8220;from the point of view of the health-care provider, trying to limit alcohol consumption for lots of reasons is important. If this encourages people to limit alcohol consumption, I think that&#8217;s a positive outcome, but I don&#8217;t think the National Psoriasis Foundation or any physician group would make a recommendation.&#8221;<br />
Previous studies have found an association between alcohol and psoriasis, although the reasons for this link were not clear.<br />
Bebo said &#8220;There is evidence that alcohol consumption can affect immune responses and psoriasis is an autoimmune disease. There&#8217;s also some evidence that it can affect the biology of (the skin cells known as) keratinocytes. Then why would it be nonlight beer, why not wine or other alcohol? Maybe there&#8217;s something in wine that &#8230; might reverse the effect.&#8221;</p>
<p>Qureshi, who is an assistant professor of dermatology at Brigham and Women&#8217;s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, said &#8220;When we looked up the components of different alcoholic beverages, one thing that stood out for nonlight beer was the amount of protein, gluten in particular. When we stumbled on this, we realized that there have been reports in the past that ingested gluten was associated not just with psoriasis worsening but other autoimmune diseases, such as celiac disease.&#8221;</p>
<p>A further study in the same issue of journal found that psoriasis carries a heavy mental health burden, with people who have the disease suffering higher rates of depression, anxiety and even suicidality.<br />
The link was more pronounced in men, according to the researchers from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.<br />
A third study in the journal reported that treating psoriasis with narrow-band UV-B light rays may increase vitamin D levels in patients and help reduce the burden of the disease.<br />
But the Irish authors, who reported various financial ties with pharmaceutical companies, don&#8217;t believe that the higher vitamin D levels actually were responsible for the psoriasis clearing.</p>

“The low levels of the B vitamin, folate, are associated with symptoms of dementia and &#8220;cognitive decline&#8221; in brain function.” Lindsay Allen, a U.S. Department of Agriculture nutritionist said.</p>
<p>Scientists from the University of California-Davis, the UCD Medical Center and the University of California-San Francisco along with Allen collaborated on the long-term research project called the Sacramento Area Latino Study on Aging.</p>
<p>Allen explaining in news release that studies that began in 1996 done before that time were inconclusive and had confusing results. Now, 1,800 Hispanics ages 60 to 101 included into the team.<span id="more-2030"></span></p>
<p>“AOL Health that particularly B-12 deficiency has been very common in developing countries because the only foods you can get it from are animal sources, such as milk, eggs and meet, and many people in poor countries don&#8217;t consume them.” Allen stated.</p>
<p><strong>Allen also says “B-12 deficiency is also very common in the elderly U.S. population because they stop being able to absorb it from their diet as they grow older.</strong> We think supplements will work in the elderly because even though they can&#8217;t absorb it naturally through food, they can through supplements.&#8221;</p>
<p>The team was collected blood samples from the volunteers to be analyzed. They led by Mary Haan of UC San Francisco.</p>
<p><strong>Researchers found that the decrease in brain function in participants with low levels of folate was detectable despite less than one percent of them being deficient.</strong><br />
The study also found that women with low folate levels fared worse than men. Women in the bottom third subgroup with a folate deficiency more than doubled their risk for depression, when compared to those in the highest third.</p>
<p>“Folate is also important in women who are trying to start a family” Said Dr. Laura Corio, AOL women&#8217;s health expert.</p>
<p>She added to AOL Health &#8220;Women in their reproductive years need at least one milligram of folate in their system before they try to conceive to decrease their incidence of neural tube defects in their fetus.&#8221;<br />
New evidence of an association between lower blood folate and depression, which is already known to affect brain function provided by this research.</p>

274 healthy women ages 18 to 40 years old who were planning to have a baby are get into a research that conducted by the Oxford University. Their saliva were used to measure their stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol.<br />
The highest levels of adrenaline indicator participants called alpha-amylase were 12 percent less likely to get pregnant during the most fertile days in their cycle than women with the lowest levels.</p>
<p>According to BBC News, the journal Fertility and Sterility, reported that the amount of cortisol did not appear to affect conception.<br />
Division chief of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Center at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Dr. William Hurd told AOL Health &#8220;There&#8217;s no question it&#8217;s absolutely what we expected.<span id="more-1932"></span> It makes physiologic sense that if you&#8217;re in a stressful situation, it&#8217;s not a good time to get pregnant.&#8221;</p>
<p>Hurd has found in his practise that  women who have difficulty to have babies become stressed, often exacerbating her condition.<br />
Hurd also said &#8220;If someone gets into extremely stressed, we have two psychologists in our department that we can send them to.&#8221;</p>
<p>As we know from some previous researches that obesity, drinking, smoking and age can all negatively affect a pregnancy. Merely, Oxford University confirm that all those things was anecdotal testify about the affect of stress.<br />
Differentiating between normal stress and the extreme or chronic variety is the key is to acknowledge your body well enough, since everyday tension is a part of our daily life.</p>

<p>&#8220;Everyone should be looking for ways to lower stress in their life, since we&#8217;re working too many hours and not sleeping enough. It&#8217;s good for our physical and mental health.&#8221;</p>

Starting with Celebrity Fitness as a pioneer, followed by Gold&#8217;s Gym, and the last one is Fitness First.</strong> In each of this extremely well built gym, a vast array of equipments is provided for the customers to train. It ranges from cardiovascular machine (treadmill, bike, and even stepper for hill climber) to weight lifting machines. Logically, the entire customer (in this case, women) could take a huge amount of benefits from the training regime. But, as shocking as it might be, they don&#8217;t. The women who train there only train their cardiovascular system. They do not take the weight resistance training. They spend more and more time on the cardiovascular exercise, and less on exercises that challenge their bodies. Doing weight training does not always involve lifting heavy weights of dumb-bells, but there are a lot of fun varieties that women can use; such as using medicine ball. A medicine ball is a tool that provides women with the chance of training their muscles without giving too much stress on it. The bottom line is that women can get a lot of benefits from doing resistance training.<span id="more-1603"></span></p>
<p>The biggest controversy that keeps women away from doing resistance training is that they are afraid of getting a bulk muscle mass. Women fear that they will get a big and muscular posture and eventually every one will cast a weird look at them. This is really incorrect. Researchers found that unlike men, women typically don&#8217;t gain size from strength training. This condition happens because compared to men; women have 10 to 30 times less of testosterone. Those hormones cause muscle hypertrophy (an enlargement or overgrowth of an organ or part of the body due to the increased size of the constituent cells). Women will, however, develop muscle tone and definition. This is a bonus. Besides that, there are still other benefits that women can get from resistance training.</p>
<p><strong>The other reason why women refuse to get weight training is that they are all looking at the same old misguiding myth, and that is to lose weight.</strong> Actually, there is a big difference in losing weight and get healthy. Losing weight does not always mean that the body is healthy (having a cancer, for instance). The correct way to acquire a healthier physique is that women must lose their fat instead of their weight. And this is the first benefit of doing resistance training for women. The benefits are that women will lose body fat faster than the non-resistance training groups. There are studies performed by Wayne Westcott, PhD, from the South Shore YMCA in Quincy, Massachusetts, who found that the average women who strength trains two to three times a week for two months will gain nearly one kilograms of muscle and will lose two kilograms of fat. As their lean muscle increases so does their resting metabolisms. Resting metabolisms is the body&#8217;s metabolic rate (rate of energy use) early in the morning after an overnight fast and a full eight hours of sleep. The higher their resting metabolisms are, the faster they burn calories. Generally speaking, for each kilogram of muscle they gain, they burn twenty to thirty more calories each day. The number of calories they successfully eradicate will rise exponentially if they train regularly. That can really add up. The harder they train, the faster they lose the fat. Lose fat not lose weight.</p>
<p><strong>Women have a high risk of getting osteoporosis. The risk gets higher for especially those who are in the age above 40.</strong> Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break. Osteoporosis is a disease of bone leading to an increased risk of fracture. The bone mineral density is reduced; bone structure is disrupted so that the bone will become much, much weaker than the normal density bone. If not prevented or if left untreated, osteoporosis can progress painlessly until a bone breaks. These broken bones, also known as fractures, occur typically in the hip, spine, and wrist. This is where resistance training comes in handy by preventing osteoporosis. A research has found that weight training can increase spinal bone mineral density (and enhance bone modeling) by 13 percent in six months. This, coupled with an adequate amount of dietary calcium, can be women&#8217;s best defense against osteoporosis.</p>
<p>After having healthy benefits from reducing fat and preventing osteoporosis the women still have another ?profit?. They will improve their athletic performance. Over and over research concludes that strength training improves athletic ability in all (including the very elite athletes). Golfers can significantly increase their driving power. Cyclists are able to continue for longer periods of time with less fatigue. Skiers improve technique and reduce injury. Swimmers heal faster from lung fatigue. Whatever sport they play, strength training has been shown to improve overall performance as well as decrease the risk of injury. This is really useful for everyone, not just athletes.</p>
<p><strong>There are other benefits as well from resistance training. Women will for sure increase their strength.</strong> The improvement will make them far less dependent upon others for assistance in daily living. Chores will be easier, lifting kids, groceries and laundry will no longer push them to the max. Also, there is another bonus. If their maximum strength is increased, daily tasks and routine exercise will be far less likely to cause injury. Research studies conclude that even moderate weight training can increase a woman&#8217;s strength by 30 to 50 percent. Research also shows that women can develop their strength at the same rate as men. Not only those women will build stronger muscles from resistance training, but they also builds stronger connective tissues and increases joint stability. This acts as reinforcement for the joints and helps prevent injury. A recent 12-year study showed that strengthening the low-back muscles had an 80 percent success rate in eliminating or alleviating low-back pain. Other studies have indicated that weight training can ease the pain of osteoarthritis and strengthen joints. Yes, women already having osteoporosis or osteoarthritis can still also gain benefit from resistance training The most important benefit a person can achieve is learning basic fundamentals in training techniques in order to minimize the risk for injury and maximize the overall health status and functional strength. This is especially true for the patient with osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. So basically, women will reduce their risk of injury, back pain &#038; arthritis.</p>
<p><strong>The last benefit, but definitely not the least, from doing weight training is that women will reduce their risk from having a degenerative disease such as a heart problem or diabetes.</strong> According to Dr. Barry A. Franklin of William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, weight training can improve cardiovascular health in several ways, including lowering LDL (&#8220;bad&#8221;) cholesterol, increasing HDL (&#8220;good&#8221;) cholesterol and lowering blood pressure. When cardiovascular exercise is added to the training regime, these benefits are maximized. Besides having a healthier heart, Dr. Franklin also noted that weight training may improve the way the body processes sugar, which may reduce the risk of diabetes. Adult-onset diabetes is a growing problem for women and men. Research indicates that weight training can increase glucose utilization in the body by 23 percent in four months. In the end, they will have a healthier body.<br />
In summary, there are really a huge number of benefits from weight training that women can get. On the contrary to the popular beliefs, women will not gain a bulk muscle mass. Instead, they will have a healthier and better body than women who only do cardiovascular training. Sure, cardiovascular training is great. But, the benefits of weight training for women,, far outweigh those who just choose cardiovascular. As stated earlier, cardiovascular is very important, but to add weight training will add many benefits. The body will get more challenge from the mixed training. So, to all of the women who really appreciate health, stop worrying and start resistance training!</p>
